Does this I can come with a FireWire 800 adapter included?

It comes with a 9-pin to 9-pin Firewire cable, but no adapters to the 4 or 6 pin standards.

Does this work properly with the new Mac 10.9 OS - Mavericks?

I haven't run into any issues using it for backup. It is Time Machine compatible.
