Pros:
Very fast sustained transfer rate: ~200MB/s, very large capacity at 8TB .
Runs cool, but not exceedingly quiet
Hopefully the NAS rated drive provides more reliable long term operation
Cons: As SSD drive is getting larger in capacity and cheaper in price, these spindle drives are getting less impressive despite a very good performance showing from this particular drive.
Overall Review: I updated a 1TB drive in my NAS system with this 8TB with 256MB cache unit, during data transfer about 289GB of data was transfered in 24 minutes which average about 200MB/s transfer rate. This is very good for an old school spindle drive. During data transfer I used USB 3.1 adapter, I could feel the driver creates a gyro-effect when the power is shut off on the unit. This would suspect the drive is less rugged compared to a SSD drive (but I guess everyone knows about that). Not sure about the drive longevity yet since I only had it for a few weeks, but so far no sign of any issue. This is a very good drive, only time will tell how reliable the drive will be in the long term.
Pros: Fast and cheap. Running for about a year with no issues.
Cons: The drive is a little loud. If you are putting the NAS in a closet, you will never hear it.
Pros: 7200 speed
Cons: none yet
Overall Review: I Like theses drives for my home server, I have bought 8 so far. no problems yet...
Pros: Works as intended
Cons: None so far
Overall Review: Will update if there are problems but so far works just fine with my M10 Intel Optane.
Pros:
at one time seagate made high quality reliable drives.
they stopped doing that to make more money at the expense of the victims that buy their products.
Cons:
these drive will fail. that is a promise.
some will last until one year to stop working so you can not use the warranty.
others will fail right out of the box, so it can be replaced with another drive that will fail soon.
Overall Review:
i really miss the seagate from yesteryear. they were great drives and had a 5 year warranty.
things have changed.
seagate has decided they would make more money making low quality drives that cost about the same as the high quality drives cost.
my seagate 4 TB hdd lasted about 6 months and is now dead.
No, i do not WANT another bad drive to replace the one that failed.
seagate no longer will get any of my business.

Pros:
It doesn't get hot, decently fast. average write speed is around 200MB/s with maximum being right around 215MB/s. Tested With a Intel® Z77 Sata 3 Controller.
I also tested this in my Qnas Qnap Network NAS and it works just fine there, but is bottlenecked by the Network transfer speed of 117MB/s
This drive is designed to be reliable. Most of the features built into the IronWolf drives are designed to make it perfect for Network attached storage and Multi Drive enterprise type servers. It is designed to be comfortable in a 24/7 environment which would also be compatible with DVR use.
Cons:
I have tested other drives intended for 24/7 use in the past and some of them keep the platter spinning and never park the heads, this reduces latency and seek time. but if the drive had no workload it would constantly move the heads back and forth while waiting for data to write and it would make a repetitive click sound. most techs know that sound as the click of death and it is a indication that the drive is damaged. I am pleased that this drive does not make that sound when it is idle. although access time of 9.3ms is a bit higher than other drives i have tested.
I can be heard when writing data, usually it is silent, but certain workloads are louder than others. It is not loud enough to where it should be a problem though.
Overall Review: Overall these drives are good and reliable, This is my 4th IronWolf drive and i have not had a single problem with any of them. If you are planning to use this in a windows environment, drive partitioning will leave you with 5.45TB of storage space.

Pros:
7200rpm

3 year warranty
Cons: wish is was helium filled like the 10TB, 12, and 14TB
Overall Review: great drives, if you've got the money get the 10TB
