Mechanical, not great durability.  Had one last around 6 months and just straight up died last week.  In RMA process right now with WD.

Don't if you want your game to load, this drive is extremely slow. I only use it to store files I only use once in a while and avoid loading off of it at all costs.

I think that what you are asking is, is this drive fast and reliable. Despite the technology being used the internal drive used in this device cannot be judged for performance compared to a NAS or RAID array. I use this drive because it is faster and less prone to failure compared to other model drives that I have used. Mark has answered your question prior to my comments. I would not write this drive off because of the technology of the internal component and technology used for the storage capacity.
