Stupid question but I'm running CAT6 throughout my house, obviously it's the same jack but can it handle that speed? I know my wall plates needed to be CAT6 compatible and didn't know if this was the same thing.

Yes this is a great desktop switch made for the faster speeds that you can get with cat6. Great choice going with Asus , They make Awesome products with superb quality. I personally build all my pc's using Asus motherboards and also use Asus products for all our networking . I truly am very impressed and proud of Asus!

Is this switch capable of port trunking? I plan on trunking together 2 lines to a RT-AC87U router, and 2 lines to a Synology 415+

no, It doesn't, Need Manageable switch to do that.
