Dell Venue 8 - Intel Atom Z2580 Dual Core 2GB RAM 32GB Flash 8.0" Tablet Android 4.2, Black Color (Ven8-3333BLK)

Pros: Good screen, excellent build quality, no bloatware, cheap memory upgrade.

Cons: Limited number of accessories, but this will change with time. Already more available than when I ordered mine.

Overall Review: I ordered two of these with 32gb. At only an additional $20 there is no reason not to. The screen is not the highest resolution out there, but unless you hold it very close to your face, you won't see a difference. Good off angle viewing. It will play any games currently on the market and I have seen no lag or hiccups thus far. Dell has nailed it with this one. A tablet for the masses for a price most anyone can afford.

Pros: Solid build, fast and reliable. I love the steel engraved DELL logo, and the rough back that against slippery. Very light (350g or 0.76lb) for a 8" tablet, so it's just right, not too large as 10" and not too small as 7". POWERFUL tablet: 2Ghz Atom chip and 2Gb RAM is A LOT more than you need for any regular tasks and gaming. GPS is super fast for catching the signal (the Nexus 7 2013 users are still struggling with GPS problem). MICRO-SD card slot available for up to 32Gb SDHC or even 128Gb SDXC; 1 more point for Dell vs Nexus. So you can get as much as 160Gb with 32Gb internal + 128Gb SDXC external. SOUND: very loud (much louder than Nexus and Galaxy) and pretty good quality. SCREEN: viewing angle is good. The resolution of 1280x800 is really NOT a big deal, IMHO. On a 7"-8" tablet, it's hard to see the difference between 1280x800 and 1920x1200 (of Nexus 7" 2013). However, the screen is not as vibrant as Samsung galaxy, maybe due lack of back light for the LCD.

Cons: Camera is really bad in low light setting. Compass is not functioning on both of my tablets (ordered 2 of them), don't know it due to firmware problem or hardware defect? Inspected the tab with Android hardware info and found that there is no Magnetic sensor (no compass). Called Dell and they said that they are trying to fixed it, maybe in the next firmware.

Overall Review: Unbeatable tablet at under $199.99 competition! If you can afford $50-$100 more, go for Samsung galaxy tab 3 8.0 for more vibrant screen, better camera, and compass.

Pros: This is a name-brand budget tablet with great features. I bought it for sub $130, so I wasn't expecting the world but got more than I bargained for. Android OS, Jelly Bean 4.2.2 upgradeable. For CPU it uses an Intel Atom 2.0 GHz dual-core Z2580 which stays very cool and more than adequate for ordinary needs. The 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB flash memory and an external micro SD slot rounds out a pretty nifty package. No complaints at all about the 1280 x 800 8" display. GPS with the free MapFactor app will get you to your destination. WiFi works great even with weak signals. Has Bluetooth. Responsive. Doesn't choke on multimedia. Load data to the tablet with a USB On-The-Go (OTG) cable, and plug in multiple peripheral devices using a powered hub. When in Sleep mode, uses almost no power.

Cons: Battery life over-estimated. Depends on your brightness setting, Wifi radio and GPS usage, number of active apps. I don't expect 7-8 hours of mixed usage on a full charge. Brightness level too high even on minimum for dark room reading (there are apps to cure this problem). 5/2 camera: not the tablet's best feature. I've shot some good, fairly sharp pics, just not reliably. If you have naturally oily fingers like I have, the tablet lets you know right away.

Overall Review: The OTG cable was my first accessory purchase. The tablet "mounts" a USB flash drive through it; be sure to "unmount" it when finished: Settings/storage. Same as with an external flash card. I bought a 32 GB Class 10 ultra high speed card to facilitate processing. Charging on AC: expect 20% per hour. Offcharge: When I forgot to turn off GPS, and in Sleep, battery depleted 75% in 14 hours; lost only 2% in 21 hours with WiFi and GPS off. Bought Evecase screen protector for Venue 8. Easy to apply and you get 2 each of gloss and matte. This is the perfect all-round device to lug around with me, best size for reading eBooks, for light internet browsing, map & nav, multimedia player, huge document storage and viewing capability...etc. "XDA member has found a root method for the Venue 8 4.2.2."

Overall Review: I had this tablet for 2 month before the battery stopped charging. It would not charge beyond 29%. It had to be sent in for repair and now I am getting a refurbished unit back. On the plus side Dell was very responsive and helpful through the entire process. The overall design and performance of the tablet otherwise is pretty nice. I have a 10 inch Galaxy Tab and I thought the 8 inch might be too small, but that isn't the case.

Pros: great size, great picture, great weight

Cons: I have had two now. the first one wouldn't stay attached to its back. sent it back. the second one would stop registering my touch after a few moments use. I would have to turn the display off turn it back to continue where I was. shame on you dell. I was a good customer, it took two hands to count my dell products. but that's when they were made here in the states. you should have never left Texas.

Cons: sense the first I got this tablet I had the screen response issues it would freeze up till you hit the power button so I got a rma number and sent it back to new egg then they email me saying nothing is wrong with it now today I just got it back from them took about a month as soon I turn it on the same problem screen response issue again ugh I guess ill try to call dell n fight with them

Overall Review: I bought this tablet directly from Dell not newegg I have screen response issues with it I have had this problem since day 1 its a known problem with these tablets I had 2 upgrades to the tablet neither 1 fixed it I called Dell tech support and they would not send a replacement out they wanted me to send it in for repairs I refused to send it in I even bought an extended warranty I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT I HAVE BOUGHT SEVERAL DELL PRODUCTS BUT THIS IS MY LAST

Pros: Very fast - easy wireless network setup, Nice screen size - 8" screen is EZ to read - crisp text. Fast browser - Nice feel in hands Screen auto rotates so you can hold the tablet upside down and the the screen adjusts.

Cons: The battery seems to take a long time to charge (compared to a cell phone or a blackberry. Fingerprints smudges show up on screen after a small amount of usage

Overall Review: Saw this tablet at local computer stor while looking at ASUS Google 2013 that my son liked. I really liked the larger screen and the fact that you could add up to 128 GB micro SD card. The ASUS has a higher screen resolution - but both of these tablets looked pretty awesome to me. Saw New Egg was offerring the Dell for a good price - now even lower - so I pulled the trigger and bought - so far so good. I would reccomend for the price.
