Can you use your finger with the touchscreen? Or is it stylus only? Thanks.

You may use your fingers on the keyboard like any other laptop.   The built in stylus is used to move thinks around on the screen.

Can I use this with a wireless printer?  So I can print from accross my home?

All X61 tablets had wifi of some sort, though there were many different adapters available depending on what build you bought. The short answer is yes, assuming you're using a consistent wifi standard throughout your network. In my memory, most of the X61 tablets only supported up to 802.11g, so if your network is operating exclusively on the newer 802.11a or 802.11n standards, it won't work. Most routers support simultaneous backwards compatibility with older wifi standards, so just be sure yours is set up to support the older 802.11g. Of course, the third part of this is what standards are supported by your printer, so be sure to check those as well if it is wireless. Good luck!

What type of hard drive is it? Is it SATA? And if so, would a small SSD work well in it?

It may be SATA but the specs do not advertise it as such and I think they would if it was so. But the big thing about switching drives is losing the OS.  Mobile laptops and desktop PCs almost always have a reserved space on the HDD for reinstalling the OS if the current install becomes corrupt or infected.  You will definitely have to use your own Windows install disk if you choose to switch drives.

Does it have a webcam?

No, no built-in webcam. This generation of hardware did not normally include an integral webcam. However, an external USB device can be had relatively inexpensively usually under $25.

The brand new X61 unit was supplied from Lenovo with 32 bit Windows XP. The CPU is 64 bit and I was pleasantly surprised to now have a dual-boot device that includes my (optional) install of Windows 8.1 Update, with all device drivers automatically installed, in addition to Windows 7. The unit runs most adequately and I'm fully satisfied, including a battery that charges and holds its charge well. This is a worthy unit, well constructed, gently used, and the resistive touchscreen is fully functional, but expects you to use a stylus for data entry.

does this tablet have 3g or 4g capability?

No it only has Wireless LAN.  I also find the back lighting on the screen to be a bit dim.  The touch screen should not be confused with a Multi-Touch screen like most tablets today.  It is only a single touch screen and is best worked with the stylus that comes with it and has it's own slot in the side of the base.  It works well enough and is easy to handle and I like the built in fingerprint reader.

It's a nice machine.  It actually is a tad heavy, but I've had zero problems carrying this around.  I like the machine quite a bit for the price and would totally recommend it for most.

Are the hard drive and memory upgradable ?

Yes, both are upgradable. There's a user-accessible panel on the bottom for the RAM, and one  on the side for the hard drive. I believe the mobo can take up to 4 GB max of RAM, and is pre-UEFI so can't recognize (the full capacity of) hard drives over 2 TB.

Note that the "touchscreen" is the old resistive style (i.e., pressure opposed to skin contact) and does not support multitouch. That said, the digitizer is still top notch, and the resistive touch screen is much less flaky than capacitive ones when using the stylus. I bought a Lenovo Helix recently, but I still prefer my old X61 (which I bought in 2007) for drawing and handwriting.

Is the RAM expandable?

Yes, up to 4GB. I  just switched out the original 2GB to 4GB for $30-40 I think.  I just bought the RAM online and switched it out myself, super simple.  Worth the upgrade.

What kind of cosmetic condition is this Thinkpad X61 Tablet in? Will there be scuffs, scratches, cracks, missing port covers etc? Is there any information on current average battery life, if battery was replaced?

These things are hit and miss. I have bought 3 refurb x61's. In general, there will be scuffs and other general signs of wear-and-tear, but they tend to be mininal. The tablet I just bought from this vendor is in EXCELLENT condition for a refurb. New battery, what looks like a brand new screen, screen hinge is nice and tight. Not guaranteeing that your purchase will be the same, but I'm impressed wit the quality of this refurb.
