Windows 8.1

belkin case

Power up your new Windows tablet or PC and you can get into the flow right away. Windows 8.1 starts up faster, switches between apps faster, and uses power more efficiently than previous versions of Windows, including Windows 7. The key is to explore the corners and edges, where you'll find most of the things you do most often, like switching between apps, sharing things with friends, and adjusting your settings. You'll soon be zooming along from work to play and back again - or doing both at once. If your PC is running Windows 7, your files, apps and settings will easily transfer to Windows 8.1.

Fail to meet expectactions

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Quickly started to show issues :
-Seems like it has overheating issue, soon after the screen will freeze with a grey screen and could not be rebooted for some times.

-Also, the language switched to spanish a couple of times for absolutely no reasons.

Other Thoughts: Thought having a windows OS would help to connect other devices but interface is not well suited for such low resolution.

Crapped out after 8 months of little usage

Pros: Sturdy build, although entirely plastic. Don't understand how one user comes to the conclusion that the casing is made of aluminum. That's entirely untrue. But it's so sturdy that one could easily crack the screen while attempting to bend or flex it. Although not rubberized, the plastic exterior is not slippery at all. You can get a very good grip on the device. The buttons are also sturdy. The TF card reader is easy to get to with your finger tips or nails. The slot spring feels quite strong. Screen brightness and resolution are very good. It's evenly illuminated without any areas appearing to be darker than others. Speakers sounds relatively good. It boot into Windows rather quick, faster than I expected. Bluetooth works perfectly fine.

Cons: The power adapter failed on day 1. It charged for about 30 minutes, then stopped. I tested it with other devices and it just will not work anymore. I have some other compatible adapters at home with 5V and 2A. Two of them hardly charged this computer at all, the 3rd charger works. However, if you move the connector just a tiny bit then you lose the connection and the computer won't charge. Even if the connection seems fine, you might lose it just by putting the tablet down. I must of course attribute this to a faulty USB connector. Although I haven't had trouble connecting exterior keyboards, mice or USB memory sticks. The battery does not last nearly as long as some users are claiming. If I only use the browser for surfing it will last about 2hrs - 2:30hrs max. Playing videos, NetFlix or YouTube will empty the battery in about 1hr to 1:30hr. This is only on half-brightness. 1GB of RAM is not enough to run most applications quickly and smoothly. You do notice a lag. Multi-tasking is difficult to impossible. 2GB is probably the min requirement for this device. The TF card reader fails about 50% of the time. Although you'll hear a sound from Windows confirming that the SD card has been inserted, it just won't appear in the file explorer. In the last couple of months it would appear in the file explorer, then disappear within seconds. Or, wouldn't be accessible at all. Constantly had to remove and re-insert. I tested about 6 different cards with the same result. Even rebooting with the card already inserted led to the same results. The touch screen was good at the most, but never very good. In the last few months in became very inaccurate. Gestures would also make the computer freeze or there would be a long delay. I decided to restore Windows to the factory install about two weeks ago. The touch screen problem didn't get better, just worse. To the point where tapping on an item at the top of the screen launched a program at the bottom of the screen. For example: tap on the X in a window to close it, but instead the calendar pops up (as if I had tapped on the clock at the bottom right). Battery became even more difficult to charge (no connection to the adapter). A couple of days ago Windows reported that the 16GB ROM was full. This is impossible, because I had hardly installed anything yet. I had more stuff on it before resetting to factory install with about 4GB free space. Loading the SD card became even more difficult with read/write errors on top of it. Suspecting a corrupted install, I tried once more to reinstall the factory image. This resulted in an error message that the 16GB ROM cannot be accessed. Hence, I neither boot the system nor reinstall Windows from the stored image. Luckily I backed up the factory image to a USB stick. However, this stupid computer does not allow to boot from USB. The BIOS has been crippled. BTW, the camera a piece of junk. Serial number on sticker has already faded.

Other Thoughts: I've contacted Vulcan and will see what they say. They've generated a ticket and assigned a "Senior Engineer". Seriously Vulcan, how stupid do you think people are? You're assigning and Engineer to this? Please just get me a free replacement or give me a refund for this lemon.

Tremendous Bang for your Buck

Pros: It's an Intel-based Windows PC for dirt cheap, with a good quality display and a tough aluminum body. For what you get it's a steal. My battery life is probably 4-8 hours depending on what I'm doing, and since it's a full version of Windows I can configure everything--power settings, memory usage, drivers, you name it. You're not locked down like on Android. I can play simple Steam games on it, and install the Steam library to an SD card to save space. I can use a USB OTG cable with hub to connect any number of USB devices through the micro USB port like a regular PC. Windows 8 works great with Bluetooth, and the included Bluetooth keyboard is a nice bonus. 720p graphics are crisp and the display is very bright.

Cons: There isn't much storage. Windows takes up 6 GB, plus there is a 4GB recovery partition, and of course you need space for your swap file and updates. If you install Office, this leaves you with only a few hundred MB free on the main drive, although you can delete the recovery partition if you're feeling lucky.

Also the sound output through the headphone jack is poor. There is a lot of digital noise so it seems to be picking up internal interference, makes listening to anything via headphones unpleasant. Bluetooth headphones don't have this problem, however. However, there doesn't seem to be a way to listen to music and shut off the display, since that causes the device to go to sleep.

There is no video output, which would have been a killer feature.

Other Thoughts: Great deal, I would highly recommend this if you are looking to save money or are interested in a small windows PC to get work done or play simple games. Makes a great emulator machine too.

Small, but does the job

Pros: Good touchscreen sensitivity
Build quality
compact size

Cons: low memory (Needs SD expansion)
long charge time

Other Thoughts: The device fits our need for a small device we can take with us on outings so that we can complete school assignments and projects. After Windows completes its' install there is not much memory left so adding the SD card is recommended. The device has a really long charging time. If you know you need to use the device the next day, make sure you give it all night to charge from a dead battery. Other than that the device is easy to operate and has a full version of Windows 8.1 with a year of Office 360. The bluetooth keyboard is a good addition, though a stylus would help as well since I have large fingers and always select the wrong option. For the price, you really can't ask for much more.

Further Thoughts

Pros: Nice bright screen, not too laggy. The little bluetooth keyboard it came with is cool, and if you paired it with a bluetooth mouse I'll bet this little guy could play a mean game of Warcraft III (if you share the CDrom from your PC over the network to install the game, and then download the game developer's latest patch that among other things, no longer required you to have the CDrom in the drive). Popping in a 64gig miniSD is more than enough to rotate out some music albums, throw some videos on to watch, or whatever, but you'll have to purchase that separately.

Cons: This bloody thing shuts off after like 2 minutes to save battery, almost regardless of what you're actively doing. It's what it's set to do by default in the windows settings, but I even changed this and STILL it shuts off after 2 minutes while I'm in the middle of reading an ebook, or browsing the web. It even ticked me off by shutting its self off WHILE I was clicking around in windows' battery settings to see if there was some option that I am missing. The only way I've found to get around this is to play some music or something in windows media player, and this causes it to recognize that it is performing some activity and then it won't shut its self down. But otherwise, like some inconsiderate and drunken roommate, it just gives you the finger and shuts down right in the middle of you clicking around and doing stuff. Also, and this is really more of an annoying Windows thing, but you might want to shut your windows update off right when you set it up. Every other day it would start downloading some update and I'm watching that 16 gigs of HDD space dwindle down to 8 gigs....then 7 gigs after it does it again....then 6....I'm down to about 4.-something gigs right now before I finally got fed up and shut that off. Just a tip. Lastly, for some reason the little wireless network driver won't always work when I boot it up. Strangely enough, I accidentally came across what seems to fix this is when the bloody thing shuts its self off and you have to turn it back on, the wireless network driver suddenly works again. Just shutting it down yourself and rebooting this doesn't fix that for me, nor does having windows try to repair the driver. The only thing that works is to just put the thing down, let it sit until it shuts its self off, and then turn it back on. It's really weird.

Other Thoughts: Overall, there's some annoyances to deal with. So you're getting what you pay for with such a cheap price. But despite it, it works just fine for what I got it for. I bring it to work and go sit out in my car during breaks and lunch and either read up on an ebook, or watch some shows.

INTERESTING Windows tablet

Pros: A full Windows 8.1 tablet inexpensively
Good screen
Good speed
Office 365 Full year subscription
Case AND keyboard

Cons: Almost no storage
8 inches pretty small for Windows
Poor build quality

Other Thoughts: Read all the previous reviews and been playing with this for several days. Let me address some of the previous comments.
Mine`s running at 1.33 GHz as reported by the tablet itself (not 1.83).Still, does not feel slow.
My Windows came activated.
My Office subscription works fine.
My free space was originally something like 300 MB!. The 16 GB drive was divided into 3 partitions (EFI, working and restore). The working partition had about 9 GBs, most of which was taken up by Windows and Office. By stringently managing things I`ve freed up about a GB on my drive C: and added a fast 32 GB microSD card as drive D: (but not all apps, like Evernote, will install to an SD card).
Out of the box, the protective camera cover was sticking out and placed wrong, and the cover of the screen is not sticking in one corner (looks for all the world like a poorly applied screen protector - could it be?). Everything else physically seems OK, screen is good with wide viewing angles as an IPS screen should have, front facing speakers good. I also wish it had another USB port. LOVE the keyboard. Pairs easily and reliably, works great. Nope won`t be typing the great American novel on it but I am typing this review on it and its SO much better than an on-screen keyboard. Pop a mouse into the USB port and you`ve got a little workhorse here! (Wish the keyboard has an LED to show when its turned on). FYI mine charges fine...slowly when you have it on and are working but it charges. I had it plugged into my desktop computer`s USB port and it charged from that.
All in all, I purchased it for $99 and I think it an incredible bargain at that price (Windows 8.1 tablet, case and Bluetooth keyboard). I note that it`s now selling for $119, which is still really good (but $99 is better!).
Just be aware of the limitations and you`ll be fine. Think I`m going to get a lot of use out of this.

Great buy!

Pros: I purchased this for my boyfriend as a surprise gift seeing as how he had been over working and always on the computer, making us spend less time together. I couldn't be any happier i purchased this! He now works from the wonderful tab! He has been raving nonstop about how great it is. The display resolution is of high quality ( we Skype frequently with some friends and it was great! The voice quality, display is just perfect . It's so perfect for whoever wants to work from anywhere they find themselves. The keyboard makes it very easy to work with and it's just like having your computer with you. The battery life amazed me! I have to say, i expected a short life span for the battery. But this goes a long way without rushing to get charged every two hours.

Cons: There is really nothing to complain about.

Good value

Pros: Great price. Charged relatively quickly, ready to use out of the box. Purchased for work use, with a micro mouse this tablet works perfectly for spreadsheets on the go. Packs into my briefcase using minimal space. Easily syncs with my work and home computers and my One Drive Battery lasts all day UNLESS I'm using the keyboard a lot. The Bluetooth keyboard seems to drain the battery a bit faster. For those with comments on charging times, make sure the tablet is OFF for faster charge times. Plugged in under use it is more of a maintenance charge rather than a recharge.

Cons: It's what I expected-- its not the fastest, it doesn't have a huge amount of storage, and it has a few quirks-- you have to select the on screen keyboard to fill in fields-- something an Ipad does automatically. BUT, this is a lot less expensive than an Ipad.

Other Thoughts: I'd buy this again. In fact my mother saw this and wants one for herself!
