Yes, it will. Just remember to use the display port output if connecting a 2nd monitor. I use dvi and display port to connect two additional 23 inch screens to this dock. Works great with the w540.

Am I able to use both D-Ports to monitors at the same time?

Lenovo had told me that I could use any combination but only 2 at a time. (1HDMI 1DVI  ---  1DVI 1DisplayPort  --  Both Display Ports - etc)  I have had one DVI-D and the HDMI connected at the same time so I can attest to that combination working.
Look for reviews on the Lenovo W540 - I remember a number of reviewers talked to using multiple displays with this port replicator.

Question 4

I have one of these docks I use with a W540.  I'm still working on some display flicker issues, but I was wondering about the power button on the dock.  It looks like it has a light in the center, but there is no light in the button when the power is on/laptop running.  Is that, in fact, a light in the power button that should be on, or fading in/out when sleeping?

My docking station does not have a light in the power button.  The only way you can tell the machine is powered on when docked and laptop closed, is the red light ThinkPad logo.

Question 5

I connected my T540p to this dock and 2 external monitors using a VGA and an HDMI cable. The monitor using the HDMI does not show any display (I tried a HDMI to DP adapter, with no luck).

Does that sound like a defective dock? I tried switching monitors around also with no luck.

Not all combinations work

There is a firmware update that may help-I can not include a link but if you search on Lenovo's web side for documents/ht081248 you should find it.

I would search the other vendors web-sites for reviews if your configuration is compatible. I am only running one with DVI-D so I have not encountered the problems.

I have a T440s, wondering which power option I should choose, the 90W ultra dock or the 170W?

I'm not sure this will be much help but --
I got a new W540 and chose the 170 watt dock because of the ports it supplied. The 70watt dock that the W540 fit in had less usb3 and more usb2 as well as different display ports.
I have a T410 and an x200 (when a Thinkpad was a Thinkpad) both in docks that can use either a 60 watt or a 90 watt charger. The 90 watt charges the machines a bit faster.
The 170W charger is a real brick but since the dock is stationary that really isn't a factor. I would carefully check the port specs between the 2 docks and make the decision based on that and not the charger.

I bought a Samsung monitor (T28D310)and can not connect the Lenova docking station to this  Samsung monitor.  The docking station has a port, but the samsung LED monitor does not have that type of recepticle. how can I connect the docking station to the monitor?

I looked at the monitor's specs and pictures online. It looks like both the monitor and the docking station have HDMI ports on them. Do you have an HDMI cable you can test this with?
