will this also charge cell phones ?

Yes, I charge both my IPAD and Iphone with it. The circutry in the charger, (like most) will supply the correct voltage.

What is actual total length of charger? the product page pdf lists dimensions as: Each information Depth 1.54" Width 4.625" I believe this may be package size otherwise this is HUGE beast

Item is about 3 inches long. Half of that goes into the plug. About 1 1/3 stick out. A little more than an inch in diameter for the section that had the plugs.

Will this work with the Nexus 7 tablet in my car?

Look at the amps required by the Nexus 7 and is it USB charged?

Will it work in a vehicle that has a 24 volt electrical system?

kensington site says 10-18vdc input; 5vdc 4.2A output..will not work on 24vdc system
