The Planet GT-80x series Gigabit media converters offer a great solution for conversion between 10/100/1000Base-T and 1000Base-LX/SX network. These converters accept various types of Ethernet Media on an RJ-45 port and offer stable Gigabit fiber performance. The Ethernet signal allows three types of segments to connect easily, efficiently and inexpensively. With compact design, the converter can be used standalone, or be installed into media converter chassis (sold separately) for centralized power delivery. The Planet GT-802S is a 10/100/1000Base-T to 1000LX media converter.
The GT-80x series includes GT-802, GT-802S, GT-805A and GT-806A/B, to meet the need of various applications.
Distance Extension with High Performance and Steady Network Communication
PLANET's GT-80x series of Gigabit Media Converters extends communication distance with Gigabit performance via a fiber optical cable. The GT-80x series provides media conversion between 10/100/1000Base-T and 1000Base-SX/LX interfaces such as multi-mode LC/SC connectors (220m / 550m), single-mode LC/SC connectors (10/20/30/40/50/70/120km) and single fiber connectors (WDM, 15/60km) for various fiber optic applications.
Enhanced Smart Management Features
The GST-80x series provides auto MDI/MDI-X on its Ethernet port and the DIP switch to configure the available smart functions including the auto-negotiation / force for fiber interface and Link Pass-through function (LLCF/LLR). The Link Loss Carry Forward (LLCF) function works with Link Loss Return (LLR) to diagnose network connections. Also, the LLR function can immediately alert network administrator to the media link issue and provide efficient solution to monitoring the entire network.
In addition, even if the Web UI is not available on a GT-80x, the network administrator can still remotely control and monitor the GT-80x with its OAM TS-1000 terminal function that controls remote failure indication, loop back testing, port status, performance monitoring and troubleshooting. PLANET's GT-90x and IGT- 90xT series products provide TS-1000/802.3ah OAM protocol (operations, administration, and maintenance) support which allows the GT-80x device to be remotely managed and monitored.
'Plug and Play' Installation
The GT-80x series allows two types of segments to connect easily, the GT-80x series can be used as a standalone unit when powered by its DC adapter or used as a slide-in module to PLANET's 19-inch 7/15-Slots media converter chassis (MC-700/MC-1500/ MC-1500R / MC-1500R48). The media chassis can utilize the GT-80x to centralize the power of a fiber-optic network at one location. The Gigabit Media Converter fully complies with IEEE 802.3 10Base-T, IEEE 802.3u 100Base-TX, IEEE 802.3ab 1000Base-T and IEEE 802.3z 1000Base-LX/SX standard. The Gigabit Media Converter features a simple 'plug and play' installation. The GT-80x also supports flow control and back pressure in half-duplex mode to eliminate packets loss.
Applications
Fiber-Optic Networking for ISPs, Enterprises, and Homes
With its high performing data transmission and easy installation, ISPs can use the GT-80x to build a FTTH (Fiber to the Home) or FTTC (Fiber to the Curb) network solution and FTTB (Fiber to the Building) applications for small office network environments or enterprises.
