Great for ESXi 5.5
Pros: -8 Core CPU -4 Gib C2000 NICs -1 dedicated IPMI LAN -32 Gib RAM -Form Factor -USB 3.0
Cons: -USB 3.0 not reconised by ESXi 5.5 -NIC compadibility for ESXi 5.5 -No SD or mSATA slot Hypervisor install
Overall Review: Need to download NIC drivers from https://my.vmware.com/group/vmware/details?downloadGroup=DT-ESXI55-INTEL-IGB-5051&productId=353 and integrate VIB with ESXi customizer. Used LSI MegaRAID SAS 9341-4i for data-store adaptor. Got RAM from http://www.crucial.com/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=B001468AA5CA7304 and used LSI MegaRAID SAS 9341-4i as data-store adaptor in a ARK ITX/CS-CI03 Black Mini ITX Server Chassis.
No Go
Pros: Good RAM
Cons: Not Compadiable with Acer Aspire One AO532h-2223 (Item#:N82E16834115717). Website configurator doesn't work at all for "Laptops" and "Desktops", just "Motherboards". I had advised tec support about the site weeks ago and the never fixed the problem.
Overall Review: Take the guess work out and look for a diffrent manufactor that has a proper working "RAM Configurator"
Great!
Pros: o 1U that is no larger than a switch o 200W Gold PSU o Price o Fits ITX Server board
Cons: o Missing a manual. However, It's not too much of a pain to obtain the PDF version of the manual from Supermicro's web site. o Does not include the drive bays for 2.5" drives. you will have to spend the $8 + Shipping to order Item#: N82E16811994023. That was strike 1. o No I/O plate for Supermicro MBD-X7SPA-HF-O Mini ITX Server Motherboard, but couldn't bundle the 6 possiable I/O shields? Strike 2! o Need to order Item#: N82E16816101390 PCI-E x8 Slot to PCI-E Slot Riser Card which is $15. Strike 3!!!
Overall Review: This case is used to house Item#: N82E16813182234 which is the Supermicro MBD-X7SPA-HF-O Mini ITX Server Motherboard and 1 3.5 SATA and 1 2.5 SDD SATA ro make 1 pfSense set up. I understand that to add the $15 riser card and 2 $8 HDD trays would add and additional cost to the price tag, but it would save on shipping and inconvenience. As far as the whole I/O shield issue, that is simply a vendor blunder. It would have been nice if Newegg would tell me what's in the box and what's not included rather than just copy and paste from the mfg site. seems like Newegg service is deteriorating. Seems that expanding beyond computing parts and going with the amaz-on business model, I have been noticing a lot change for the worse.
Fantastic as Mr. Fox!
Pros: IPMI and on board USB slot that no one can access without opening the case. 6x SATA ports for packing a Lian Li PC-Q08B case with hard drives.
Cons: Price a bit high for a atom processor board that only allows 4Gb DDR2 PC667. The CPU heatsink is super chincy and does not cool the CPU very well for a $200+ server motherboard. IPMI has issues reading RPM from fans.
Overall Review: Using this with FreeNAS 7.02 (8 sucks and offers no media serving capabilities). Build is Lian Li PC-Q08B (case), Mushkin 996618 (RAM), WD Green WD20EARS (6xHDDs), Some bronze 80 PSU 320W, OCZSSDPX-1RVD0050 (OS SSD). I had to knock an egg off for the heatsink issue and RAM limit. Heatsink is that important for server class.
Bad
Pros: Newegg shipping and price.
Cons: DOA
Overall Review: Shipping something like this back would not be worth it. Just chalked it up as a learning experience.
Fantastic!
Pros: Card rates a 6.9 in Windows 7. The card can handle mostly anything that you toss at it at moderate settings. The price and performance is the real Pro here.
Cons: HDMI not native
Overall Review: Came with the 4 pin to 6 pin power connector!
Lesson Learned
Ordered product on 2/4/2014 and might receive it 2/19/2014. Lesson learned... go to Best Buy or Wal Mart for simple things like this.
