48gb of ram works!
Pros: Great board for long runs, supports up to 48gb of ram! (6x8gb sticks)
Cons: IOH runs hot, that's a known thing though
Overall Review: Bought this board a few years ago, always had just 12gb of ram in it. Wanted to upgrade, but 24gb didnt seem like enough. (This has since become my server/buildbox machine) I read online that many people have had success running with 48gb of ram on the x58 (its actually the cpu that has to support this) so I gave it a try. Bought 6x8gb sticks of Corsair XMS DDR3 1600 and slapped them in. All is running well for several days now without an issue. I know this board is discontinued, but I wanted to share my experience here for those who still rock this thing and want to upgrade the ram.
absolute garbage
Pros: Cheap
Cons: These drives are absolute garbage. I've had them for 4 months and they're already starting to get corrupt data on them and just all around act stupid.
Overall Review: Stay away! Spend the extra few bucks and get a decent SSD!
Great!
Pros: Bought some of these for my MSI x58 Pro board (bought 3 of them, so a total of 48gb) and it works great! Great price and performance.
Cons: None?
great price/capacity
Pros: price is great for the capacity i have 6 of them in a linux software raid5 and it works great!1
Cons: 5900rpm, but who cares! honestly, it only really matters if it is your os drive, for data, 5900 is plenty
Overall Review: i would recommend this drive to anyone
Awesome!
Pros: These are beautiful! My girlfriend loves them!
Cons: Bigger than I thought they'd be. Is that a con? I dunno, I have nothing bad to say.
Overall Review: These are great, and I got them at an awesome price with free shipping.
solid
Pros: great for a standard dvdrw, good price
Cons: none
Overall Review: buy it!
