Decent purchase
Pros: This card supposedly overrides winsock, which in my mind is a pro by itself. I loved the bandwidth control, since I have family that uses bandwidth also with wifi devices and Pandora internet radio. Though I can only adjust bandwidth from my computer itself, need the gaming router to adjust my families devices. I love mostly, the lower ping and lack of lag spikes that I was used to having with my onboard NIC. Software (works) fine. Increased my pring from 58-65 to a low 13-15! According to Speedtest or pingtest.net
Cons: None that I can think of except the price, maybe that I had to update the firmware to get my computer to detect the card, however, that is only a con for novice to beginner users, not myself. This is a gamer card though, and I am sure most gamers have the required tech knowledge to update firmware. Especially since the software included had no issues auto-updating the unit for me. man people wined about the software on here
Overall Review: I just had to make a comment because of so many cry babies that claim this card barely works. Funny thing is, most of their tech levels were 5 eggs. If you don't completely know your S#i!t, don't say you do and especially when you decide to make huge comments that could cause novice enthusiast needing that extra or / I mean less latency due to cruddy ISP's, to decide and not buy this device because of you. I have decent ISP, and decent router. For those interested: -AMD 1055T CPU at stock speeds, most stable, however, some can overclock, I think I got a weak unit, no cpu is the same, just the model numbers are the same) -Ocz Gold 1333 memory CL9 timings, most dependable memory I -have ever used and meant for phenom II memory controller) -Twin Frozer GTX 560 ti at stock settings, and custom fan settings) -Cooler Master V8 HSF-I love this cooler) -ASRock 990FX Professional Fatality Edition mobo (Awesome board) same quality as Asus I believe) --only bottleneck, WD Raptor 450 GB
glitchy, but powerful when works
Pros: Powerful, put my crossfire 5770 setup to shame. framerates stayed high, even on battlefield 3, had to lower resolution from 1080p tho to keep 60 fps during multiplayer. the cooling was exactly as it was said to be, cool.
Cons: glitch-prone, countless issues, Black screens, driver not responding and recovered itself a lot, tried all the 200 series WHQL releases from Nvidia, and all had issues, the most coming from the 285.62 release. Crashed at same time always on RAGE, crashed on battlefield 3 multiplayer always, with a loud defining noise from turtlebeach headset. with the 266.xx whql release, caused little red dots all over the screen.
Overall Review: I use paid version of driver cleanser, 15 plus yrs experience with computers since DOS 3.30 I RMA'd through MSI since my manufacturer rebate got me denied from new egg RMA. However, 14 day turnaround and swift replacement to a newer card, currently waiting for the new replacement to come in on the 1st of December. I will update my user review upon testing the replacement. I dropped a couple eggs because of the faulty unit, however, I think that its the GPU itself, chip-set seems to be hit and miss no matter what the manufacturer.
solid and reliable
Pros: fastest VRAM clock out of box at time of purchase
Cons: BIG and LONG
Overall Review: ensure your case fits this card before purchase
Great Sound!
Pros: DSD, Optical and 3.5 adapter, simple to install audio driver, works seamlessly with windows sound panel. excellent base and treble, 192 sample rate
Cons: no mic input
Overall Review: easy driver install. Honestly, for mobile solution or to keep outside of desktop, you can't go wrong. I also used the EClaro and before that, Striker 7.1. HT is an awesome company, every sound card that I have used from them was a favorite. I wouldn't use another brand. The sound board brand that starts with a 'C' is np-good compared to HT brand. You get what you pay for..
great card, great brand
Pros: I have built countless rigs using every brand of card that you can think of.. it's usually a card that has four letters and starts with an E or it's ASUS. This outperforms a Titan x Maxwell in games. Need I say more?
Cons: ASUS software isn't as good as the four letter word that starts with an E for the company name's.
Overall Review: Solid quality build. Love the breath effects LED
Good while it lasted
Pros: Good quality part, The price is good considering there are comparable sound cards that are double the price. drivers got more stable in later releases, good quality sound. No bloatware!
Cons: The headset Mic input jack went out after a year. I didn't notice until I switched from my optical headset to my corded headset. The Red Led CANNOT be turned off and is rather annoying if your case has a different color scheme. I docked an egg for this and for the Mic input failed.
Overall Review: I tested the wired headset on my onboard sound and on my work laptop to ensure that it wasn't the headset. I also reinstalled the drivers and it was still bad. It was good while it lasted. I also keep my case free from excess dust on a bi-weekly basis. I ordered a HT Omega Eclaro for replacement, I had a striker 7.1 before this SB -Z that lasted 2 years and I was able to sell it via an online auction as it was still in awesome shape.. Better quality over creative in my opinion. Creative still has a good product..They just like to stop supporting their good products and their drivers are sometimes sketchy.
