worked

MASSCOOL UHB-2221U3 Aluminum 2.5" Black SATA I/II Mini USB 3.0 External Enclosure
MASSCOOL UHB-2221U3 Aluminum 2.5" Black SATA I/II Mini USB 3.0 External Enclosure

Pros: Once assembled worked well, performed as expected. Fit was reasonably good.

Cons: Instruction manual was light. Instructs you to remove covers, with no guidance on how to do that without scratching. Paper clip through the screw hole, pushing up with care worked with no damage. Both top and bottom need to be removed. Three out of four screws lined up. OTB is a placebo. This model has the button but does not have the feature.

Not up to normal ASUS standards

ASUS P5K-E/WIFI-AP LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard
ASUS P5K-E/WIFI-AP LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Fast delivery by Newegg. Board worked upon arrival.

Cons: This is about my 6th ASUS motherboard, first with problems. Layout is restrictive. Using high end video cards, which are long, cover some of the onboard SATA ports, making them useless. The board advertized compatible with DDR2 1066 mhz. BIOS is not set up for auto detection of 1066 and recommends manual setting. With the Bios version installed, the computer locked up and the battery had to be removed and jumper reset to get the system to work. ASUS tech support blamed the problem on Kingston (listed as compatable) with no help. I did upgrade the BIOS and that has seemed to solve the problem, with manual setup. Soundmax software has limited flexability. Realtech is better.

Overall Review: Based on the tech support help or lack there of, layout, next time I will consider another manufacturer.

Problematic

Rosewill Gaming Computer Case - ATX Mid Tower - Top HDD Dock, Side Window Panel, 5 Preinstalled Fans - BLACKHAWK
Rosewill Gaming Computer Case - ATX Mid Tower - Top HDD Dock, Side Window Panel, 5 Preinstalled Fans - BLACKHAWK

Pros: Lots of fans, quiet. Newegg customer service.

Cons: The case is advertised with a docking station as a plus feature. It did not work. After finally calling Rosewill, turns out it is a know problem with poor quality control. Rosewill could not offer a replacement part since it "would probably not work". Should have Googled for problems prior to purchase, many out there. Disappointing response after completing a build. Case speaker for mounting on the motherboard also was non functional due to poor quality solder connection.

USB issues

ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING LGA 1151 Intel Z170 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard
ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING LGA 1151 Intel Z170 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Multiple USB ports and PCIe slots.

Cons: No quick connector included for case interface. This is the second ASUS motherboard I have purchase with significant issues with the USB ports. Originally thought it was a windows 7 or 10 issue but appears to be the bios. If I connect a Sandisk flash drive or WD My Book after the system boots, drives are not recognized. If connected during boot, the bios picks them up.

Overall Review: BIOS needs work. Even after updating to the latest firmware, drivers and multiple BIOS configurations, USB problems would not go away. Would not recommended this motherboard.

Hard setup

SAMSUNG 850 EVO 2.5" 250GB SATA III 3D NAND Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-75E250B/AM
SAMSUNG 850 EVO 2.5" 250GB SATA III 3D NAND Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-75E250B/AM

Pros: Good performance after troubled setup

Cons: The unit came bare bones as expected. Seemed to be straight forward set-up using sata-usb adapter. That was the problem. Tried 2 different USB 3.0 adapters and neither could recognize the drive. The drive was recognized when hooked directly to the MB sata bus, unfortunately the cloning process with the supplied software failed. I had to use ACRONIS full version to perform the operation.

Overall Review: Two egg due to set-up and interface issues. Be prepared with your own hardware to install. If installing on a laptop, USB interface could be an issue. Would have been 1 egg if not for the Newegg price and 64GB ADATA drive included.

lost at sea

Scubapro Scuba Divers BC Accessory Kit (Knife, Light, and Retractor)
Scubapro Scuba Divers BC Accessory Kit (Knife, Light, and Retractor)

Pros: Great price, flashlight works well.

Cons: First time out, lost the knife. The locking mechanism is on the top and easy to operate for removal. Unfortunately it was also located where on a tight swim through, it was easily brushed on the knife went deep six.
