Solid!
Pros: I love these drives. I've used these in 4 or 5 builds so far and haven't had a single issue with any of them. Work great in my own personal RAID1 setup.
Cons: You'll probably only ever see a 5.9 on the WEI with these drives, but they're not SSDs, so deal with it.
Overall Review: Good value for the storage and speed you get from them.
Get Windows 7
Pros: Better than original Windows 8
Cons: Nowhere near as smooth and streamlined as Windows 7
Overall Review: 8.1 is definitely an improvement over 8.0, I'll say that. But neither can hold a candle to 7. Microsoft is up to its old tricks again with the alternating good-bad releases of operating systems. It almost seems like they purposely release a bad one to make the good ones look better. Let's review: Windows 98 Second Edition: great Windows Millenium Edition: awful Windows XP: great Windows Vista: awful Windows 7: great Windows 8/8.1: awful Definitely skip Windows 8 and either get Windows 7, wait for the next Windows, or go Linux.
Good stuff
Pros: Always a great value
Cons: Not as fast as an SSD
Overall Review: I've used over a dozen of the WD Black Series drives without a single problem. They'll continue to be my go-to platter drive as long as SSDs stay too expensive.
Great for Photoshop CS6
Pros: Fast, hell of a lot cheaper than the Intel equivalent
Cons: Wish they still made the Phenom II series.
Overall Review: Cruising along as the heart of a system built for Photoshop. I built a Phenom II system in 2010 for Photoshop and it works great to this day. I went with the Vishera as the logical next step in performance. It works excellent.
Good value
Pros: Big for the money, quick enough in a notebook
Cons: Uh... I dunno.
Overall Review: Plenty of space for a notebook! I've used the black series drives on several desktkop builds and I haven't had an ounce of problems. So far, this laptop drive lives up to the reputation!
Great!
Pros: Compact, easy to set up, good value for money, love the dual tuners
Cons: Doesn't automatically block Grey's Anatomy
Overall Review: Download applicable codecs where necessary! After that, everything works great. I've had success with the following combinations: Windows 7 with QuickTV Windows 7 with Windows Media Center Windows 7 with VLC Media Player Windows 7 with XBMC Media Player Linux Mint with XBMC Media Player Linux Mint with VLC Media Player Ubuntu Gnome with XBMC Media Player Ubuntu Gnome with VLC Media Player Android 4.4 with InstaTV Pro The InstaTV app website actually says that there are compatibility issues with a Nexus 10. I tried it anyway with mine and I've had absolutely no issues, even with HD channels.
