I need a big hard drive for storing alot of media files, there will be no operating system or programs installed on the drive, just media files, would this drive be a good choice for this?

No, this would not be a good choice. WD Purple drives are tailored for heavy write use, such as found with recording security camera footage. Not so good for read/write use such as media file access. WD Blue (general purpose) or red (NAS/storage) would likely be better options.

Does this come with the power cable? Or maybe I need to look on the Lorex site...I'm adding this as a second drive in a Lorex box...the Lorex box has the second SATA cable, a second spot to plug the power cable, but no power cable.

I have to buy up to a 6 or 8TB HDD to gain 125 and 256MB's of Cache?
