Does anybody recommend running two of these in RAID 0? I need some reliable drives.

I have not had any issues with these, granted, they are just a few months old. I am not sure where 5400RPM drives would be advisable in RAID 0, especially with there being so much data that could be lost. the WD Red pro and WD Re have more on-drive redundancy built in. I would feel much more comfortable using either one of those in RAID 0, vs. these WD Reds.

is this supported in the Qnap or Synergies NAS boxes?

I have this running in a Synology DS415+ (I'm assuming "Synergies" is a typo). It may not run on older hardware, though.

Newegg doesn't allow me to post the link, but if you search for "synology disk compatibility" you can see Synology's info on whether it will work with a specific NAS.

Does this have standard hard drive mounting holes? Or would standard trays have to be modified, in a multi-drive unit.

I can use two of the holes in my Synology tray. Unlike the 4TB Red's which can use all four holes.

Can this drive (or any NAS drives, for that matter) be used as a regular internal hard drive in a server or desktop?

Yes, you can use this as a regular internal hard drive. The key difference between a NAS and regular internal drive is that a NAS has a higher Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF). Also, NAS drives have firmware that is optimized for constant usage of the disk.

What's a good single-bay external enclosure that will work with this 8TB drive?

'Plugable USB 3.0 Hard Drive Dock for 2.5 and 3.5 HDD or SSD (Supports SATA III, UASP and Drives 8TB+)'   I have 2 of them on two different systems that I use for doing back-ups.  Then work great providing you have USB 3.0 ports on your system.  I have other Plugable products that I use (internal I/O products).  All of their products have performed flawlessly.

What sort of write speeds does everyone get with these drives when the drive is close to being full, sub 1TB.  Does anyone's drives making clicking noises or other odd noises during data usage?

At 102GB of free space left I was able to write to it at 120 MB/s on a first attempt. On a second attempt it did it at 107 MB/s. Drive does make a clicking noise but that is normal from 8TB as explained by WD. Google it please. Thanks.
