Question 1

The listed "height" of this mount is just over 32". I've come to understand that a wall mount's "height" is actually the installed width. Will this mount accommodate 24" stud centers, and install securely without needing additional support?

You are correct in that main horizontal bar is approximately 32" in length. I have 16" stud centers which is what I believe the mount was designed for thereby allowing for a total of three anchor points. However, you could easily attach the mount to only 2 studs in your case. I do not know your TV size so I can't tell you whether 2 anchors would be enough to support your TV, but the box as well as the Newegg specs say the mount can support up to 132 lbs. However, I have to assume that weight is based on using all three anchor points. I mounted a 70" TV on it that weighs approximately 65 lbs with no issues. If you have to be absolutely sure I might get a different mount, but it is basically a judgment call.
