Question 1

Is this a one piece set up? If so, that looks terribly hard to get the monitor on..or does it somehow slide into a "wall piece"?

Accepted Answer

It is two pieces that slide together.

The straight part (behind) bolts to the wall - use inserts for drywall. The Part with the four ears bolts to the screen. The screen assembly then slides down the front of the straight part - you can see that but the picture could be more clear. It does work nicely. When you see it you will have no problem.

Question 2

Will this work with an Asus 27" monitor?

Accepted Answer

The mount is VESA compatible which is an industry standard for mounting a monitor or TV (The two sets of holes shown in the image).  According to the specifications, the maximum load is 44 lbs.  I would check the VESA and weight specs of the monitor you are looking at to see if it's compatible. Hope that helps.

Question 3

Can the swivel joints be taken apart? I have little room to slide the dovetail into the wall component and will have to insert the dovetail first, then add the TV and it's side of the mount.

Accepted Answer

You can detach the dovetail from the swivel assembly.  It's held together with a vertical 2" screw and captive nut. Use a 5mm/ 3/16" allen wrench.  The only awkward part might be holding the bottom bushing in place. Maybe with grease, tape or an extra set of hands. Hope that helps.
