It will not work through walls. It is an IR (infra-red) remote, typical for TVs and other entertainment devices, which uses light and not a radio to transmit signals.

I have media keys on my keyboard...will this remote work the same way as those keys?? and does the arrow buttons on the remote work as the arrow keys on the keyboard?? thanks :)
i kinda know the answer i just wanna make sure :P

yes this should work the same as the media buttons on your keyboard.  As for the arrow keys they work just as they would on your keyboard

I have a new Intel Haswell Nuc.. it has a built in IR receiver... I am assuming it will work with it without needing the USB dongle?

It worked on my Laptop without the Dongle. windows 7. media center. did have to load the IR driver software.

CAn this remote turn the TV on and off? And can it adjust TV volume?

It cannot control any functions of the TV. it can only be programmed to work with your pc and adjust volume settings from there. but you can get a universal remote like Logitech to operate the same functions as this remote.

windows 10 does not have "windows media center" but it should work for other software. i use mine on a windows 7 computer that I use as a DVR. Works for me.

I am wondering if anyone has ever tried or gotten one of these to work on a game system, ie. PS3 or PS4?  I basically just need the dongle.  I am wanting to use my harmony remote to control my system....

I have the Harmony Ultimate Hub, and it controls my Playstations and Xbox just fine without any additional dongle. Playstation through Bluetooth and Xbox through IR. I use this remote for my XBMC PC that all my shows and movies are on and it works like a dream.

I'm willing to bet Playstation is Bluetooth meaning you would need a Bluetooth capable remote. The Harmony Ultimate Hub is, but I think it's the hub part that has the Bluetooth receiver/transmitter.

I could try plugging the dongle into my PS3 or PS4 if you want and see how it goes. There are no drivers and basically all I think it does is correspond to universal keyboard presses.

Question 8

Is there any way to have this receiver shut down WMC and go back to the desktop?  For some reason my MCPC doesn't like to come out of hibernation with WMC running.

I don't know I don't use WMC I use XBMC (way better). Also for me something does put my PC to sleep, upon waking the dongle needs to be taken out and replugged

After I installed something from the cd I get a unknown publisher user account notice for "powerconfig.exe" I want to stop this. do I need this?

I didn't need to install any software either. Untill XBMC, then I got the same notice.  It's OK, you need it as John M says. I still haven't been able to turn it off (showing at boot up) I can live with it.

If I buy two of these, will they both work with the same wireless receiver?

Yes they will I actuality have a few linked up with one off the receivers. The only thing I do not like about this remote is if you have a Xbox 360 and you go to turn on Windows media center it will turn on the 360 it doesn't turn on my Xbox one tho. Also if your using a ceton card this remote is amazing for recording or watching cable. I can't say the same for the prime homerun but this remote is wonderful!
