Is this product truly a powered USB HUB or just a simple over glorified power supply with multiple USB ports?

This is basically just a power supply with multiple USB ports. I use it in place of a plug strip to charge and power all of my devices, iPhone, iPad, Apple Pencil charging cable, Jabra Wireless headphone charging base, and wireless keyboard. So far it works great.

Will it charge iPhone and iPad?

Yes, it will charge any device that uses a USB connection as long as you have the proper USB cable / connector type. This is a great unit if you charge many devices a time.

Can I charge multiple devices at once with the SABRENT USB charger?
