Could this SSD help my computer run faster?

Yes, I replaced an old HDD (hard disk drive) and the read/write speeds are now 5x the previous drive.  Boot up time is faster too.  If you are trying to move your whole OS to the same computer, you would have to have the proper empty bay, power / data cables, and a means of software to clone the old drive.  That depends on a person's technical ability; but was worth it for me to keep my business production PC operating, in lieu of a whole new computer and time of reinstalling applications.

I used a Samsung 860 Evo (previous generation) on my T430.  You won't reap ALL the benefits of its speed, but it certainly WILL improve boot times.  This latest version should be compatible.  HIGHLY recommended.

Hard drives almost never come with a SATA cable.  If you're replacing a HDD in a desktop then you already have a cable.  If you'replacing the drive in a laptop, a SATA cable isn't required.  You can buy a SATA cable when you purchase the drive if you need one.  No need to be cheap
