Pros: The main reason I bought this drive is because Samsung has one of the best, if not the best, track record for reliability in SSDs. Samsung manufactures their own controller so that increases reliability and accountability to a level that most of its competitors can't even reach. And its above par on speed versus the competition as well. Basically, its the all around choice for SSDs, you get great performance and great reliability. Mine has performed better than I could've imagined, taking my boot time from an old HDD with over 5 minutes to under 45 seconds (which is my favorite part). I can IMMEDIATELY click on an application and its in my face before my mouse stops clicking. I really just couldn't even imagine the speed of an SSD until I actually bought one. And this was a great one to buy.

Cons: The included bracket adapter is trash for newer computer cases because the screw wholes aren't recessed or on a punched in portion of the metal, so the screws obstruct the installation. Thankfully, most cases come with their own adapter included, and if your case isn't new enough for you to have received an adapter with it, I doubt you'll run into much trouble. Also, Norton Ghost is trash too. Norton is just a terrible resource hog and not worth the constant drain on resources in my opinion. I would STRONGLY recommend a clean install of Windows on a new SSD. Even the idea of copying an HDD to an SSD seems dumb in my opinion, so I really have no idea why they included it. After you install Windows on the SSD, you can plug the HDD back in and pull any files you want off of it anyway.

Overall Review: The setup can be a bear if you forget to check and see if your motherboard is AHCI compatible. If you're someone who thinks they know a lot about computers (but in reality not so much), it might be easy to fall prey to the idea that you can make it work. WRONG. Make sure your MoBo is AHCI compatible BEFORE you buy an SSD. Your MoBo manufacturer should have a support e-mail address where you can just shoot them an e-mail with your model number and asking if its AHCI compatible. Also, MAKE SURE YOU RUN SAMSUNG SSD MAGICIAN! It's incredibly important to, at the VERY least, use the "OS Optimization" tool to keep Windows from screwing up your SSD.

Pros: 7mm height size. Fits the macbook pro early 2011 17" hdd bay perfectly since it's mounted with side screws on the MBP. Incredible write and read performance. Blackmagic tests show: 390MB/s write, 480MB/s read. This is with the 1-5GB tests. Silent MBP chassis - no heat either! Real world performance is as follows: ~7 second (from after typing in login password from time of power button press (I use filevault2 with LION). Filevault 2 performance seems normal. Shutdown time is 1/2 second to 1 second. Wake from sleep is near instant (~1second) Overall, it improves the MBP 17" performance to the next level. Once you use an SSD, you will never want to go back to spinning HDD platters. Every single app opens up instantly and OVERALL ENTIRE SYSTEM UI EXPERIENCE is extremely smooth without ANY beach balling whatsoever. It just makes your MBP so fast and so smooth, it's incredible.

Cons: Price is the only con. Reliability will require more time with the SSD before I declare this a con. I think the only other CON which is related to the price tag - the price per GB storage. See Other thoughts:

Overall Review: At 256GB, I have to really thing about what to put on the drive. Make sure you do not waste the drive for STORAGE - don't put all your images, movies, and static files on the SSD - put your system virtual memory cache, your application files, all the stuff you would actually USE (not stream) on the SSD. Get another external firewire 800 or eSATA drives for the static stuff. Final Cut Pro X opens in 2 seconds. It's so impressive. Or you can temporarily put videos that need editing on this SSD then output the results to an external HDD. Shipped Monday, arrived Thursday via 3-day ground UPS. Pros: Price, when under 350 SPEEEEEEEEEEEEEED Not that I really care, but the casing is gorgeous. Free Batman, Free Norton Ghost 15 Full Version, Samsung SSD Magician as well. Also, Newegg even credited me the difference when they dropped the price during a sale a few days after I bought it. Props to Newegg on that one.

Overall Review: Yeah. DO believe the hype. I came back to get another one to run in RAID 0, and saw this drive sitting at 4 stars. That's just an injustice. I have 4 SSDs, spanning 3 brands. Intel, OCZ and now the Samsung 830. This drive is putting up better ATTO and Crystal Diskmark scores that 2 OCZ vertex 2's in RAID 0. Sequential Read in Crystal DiskMark is 529 MB/sec and 417 MB/sec on the write. Sorry the below reviewer's Batman wouldn't download. Mine did, and it played like a champ on that drive, as does running 4-5 servers as VM's handling real like 300 - 400 MB/sec read/write performance. And I'm not sure about the firmware thing. Mine is running at advertised speed, and was unaware of any known issues with this drive that required update on arrival. So, if you want a drive that meets advertised specs, you can believe the hype. Samsung makes bold speed claims, and the meets and exceeds those. I don't post the ATTO scores, those were even better than diskmark.

Pros: Gave my Crucial M4 to my friend so made the switch to Samsung 830. Using it on Acer Aspire 3830T. Definitely happy with it. 1. The appearance is so nice that even make me think about using it as external drive. Feels very premium. 2. Performance is very good. Came from a Crucial M4 and does not feel any huge change in real world experience. Both are blazing fast. AS SSD gives ideal bench scores. 3. Low power comsumption, huge power save comparing to SandForce based SSDs. 4. Stable, no known flaw till now 5. Magician works fine for me. Updated firmware once and switched WIndows settings inside Magician. This is a plus to M4 as Crucial does not procide such software suit.

Overall Review: Although I like my Samsung 830 more than my previous M4 now, there is no significant difference between the two (performance, power consumption, general reliability are similar). So price is the important.

Pros: Good hardware and packaging. Includes everything necessary for adding a drive, including the power cable. Easy install, recognized immediately by Windows 7 without even running WEI. Speed is comparable to 120G OCZ Vertex 3.

Cons: Software. The Magician software does nothing that is not available within WIndows or for free and the over-provisioning software messed up the native Windows 7 partitioning utility. Setting/checking things like Superfetch and indexing is trivial and doesn't require separate software. Ditto for getting system specs and benchmarks. Norton Ghost is a Symantec product so I didn't install it. I had purchased Paragon Migrate OS to SSD ($20) and used that to move to OS over. Much easier than Ghost migration. Data migration was accomplished with a trivial copy.

Overall Review: I took an egg off because of the hassle with the included software messing up Windows partitioning utility. I'm using it for a backup boot drive and data storage.

Pros: So far, works as intended. Did a fresh install of Win 7 64 without a hitch. After benchmarking test from the software provided (Magician), it registered at advertised speeds. Not much more to say here, other than it works great and I am very happy with it.

Cons: None so far.

Overall Review: Some recommend you over provision the drive (which you should do before installing OS). I did some reading and the benefits seem trivial so I did not, plus I keep the space on my drive. Also, make sure your bios is set up for AHCI on your Sata III connections (as well as your Sata II), because it will stay as IDE and yield much lower performance.

Pros: Fast, reliable and easy to install.

Cons: None so far.

Overall Review: Don't use Ghost or any cloning software. This is 2011. Move your files to an external harddrive, fresh install it and then remigrate your files back. Good lord Ghost is so 2001. Windows has made it monkey simple to save your files so all you need to do is reinstall your programs. No cloning software ever is flawless you are ALWAYS better off doing a fresh install.

Pros: Fast, Samsung Tech support responsed to questions promptly.

Cons: Minor Issue - mounting screws/holes are smaller than standard HDD for the adapter bracket, therefore the pins in many quick mount rails won't fit bracket holes.

Overall Review: Using on a X58 board via Intel SATA-II port. Marvel SATA-III (9123 chip) port was unstable, lots of BSOD's and boot issues. When the price drops to below $1/GB, I'll buy another.
