Have you lost any information due to a power outage?

Actually.., It's interesting that you ask. I had a "zap" outage a few days ago. I find these to be worse than the longer outages, because it's hard for the systems to reset so quickly sometimes.
   I do use surge protectors. The samsung 840 Pro Series 128GB etc. Is my OS boot drive and I have had NO problems with it since I first installed it in August 2013. I would say that SSDs are as robust as the rest of your computer components.

Question 2

I need to know - how long is the SATA cable provided with the device?

Considering the layout and dimensions of my computer, I may have problems if the cable is one of those really short ones.

The SSD doesn't come with a sata cable.  But you can purchase one for cheap, i'm sure.

Will this fit in my 6 year old Toshiba Satellite Laptop?

it depends on the laptop. if the laptop is sata II, it should work.  This is sata III, but will be backwards comparable.  However, you wont get the full speed out of it with such an old machine. 
You may want to think about sticking with a regular HD until you can afford a new computer, then upgrade to an SSD. You will get full use out of it that way.  But that is just my $0.02.

Will this work on a desktop MSI 760-p34 motherboard?

yes, however that board doesn't have the optimal 6gb/s sata ports so you may not get maximal performance from the ssd

I need to increase the size of my existing 128 SSD. Will the program included in this purchase be able to copy exact the existing SSD and will I be able to boot up from the new SSD?

YES! The program will copy the old drive to the new drive. You then may have to go into Storage Management and expand the partition though.

Is this SDD decent for gaming? It will compliment 16gb ddr3 i5 turbo boost and a great mobo / video card. Recommended or not?

The Pro series has roughly the same read and right speeds, whereas more mainstream SDDs have slower write speeds compared to read. Most games don’t really write a lot of data to the drive it will be mostly read requests. However any writing that will need to be performed will be on par with the read speeds. So yes for gaming it will be fantastic and it comes with a 5 year warranty.

Hi.  Do SSD drives have a problem with power outage?  If so, what UPS would you reccomend or what would you suggest?

Every device has a problem with unexpected outages. In the case of SSDs, if you're in the middle of a write operation, then you could expect corrupt data. If it was writing to the file allocation table you might expect to lose god knows what. Your UPS needs depend on the time it takes to finish the current operation(s) and shutdown. For critical needs, why not go whole hog and get a back up generator. For your HTPC, you just might want the UPS to power the beer fridge. I'm guessing somewhere in between those extremes is your answer.

I am interested in purchasing a SSD. I currently have just a 500gb HDD. How would I go about installing a SSD. Do I keep the HDD for certain files and have the most used ones on the SSD such as games? And where does the operating system go on to? I dont have my windows 7 disc anymore so I would have no way to reinstall it if need be. Thanks in advance.

Dane,  It depends on what type of computer you're trying to install the SSD on.  If it's a desktop, you should be able to just put it in the HD cage, below or on top of your existing hard drive.  You would then have to use a SATA cable to plug into the SSD, and then into the Motherboard.

If it's a laptop, you may or may not have an expansion slot you can put the SSD in.  I would double check before making a purchase.

Normally, you would want to install the OS on the SSD, so the computer boots up fast. I just install the OS, Internet Browser, and maybe a game or two on the OS, and put everything else on the HDD.

As for the Operating System, I would recommend a clean install, but since you don't have the Windows 7 disc anymore,  you can transfer the operating system over.  I'd recommend looking up some of this information, as it a little task intensive, and too much for me to write.  But I wish you the best of luck!

Laptops are a different beast and you'd need to research your particular one. You can run this externally, however it would be limited in speed by the USB port which kind of defeats the purpose.
