Depends on your model and year. It will need a SATA connector for the hard drive. What model of Idea Pad. (check on bottom for model info) Google your model and 'installing SSD' or upgrading SSD and see if there are any links or youtube video walkthroughs. If it is to old of an ideapad it will a.) not be compatible to boot from SSD b.) not have SATA connectors for the SSD but the older style IDE connector. In such case you will NOT be able to upgrade. Not really sure what the diff would be, i have hos zero problems with our ssd drive. Everything is so much faster, wil be getting another one soon for the laptop. I do know they make a pro series ssd drive but not sure what the difference is.
