Pros: The year is 2019, I bought this back in 2011. I am STILL using it. Need I say more?
Cons: what is the "Cons" you ask about :)
Pros: Silent, reliable and fast (for 5.4K RPM). Came well packed, and works 24-7 non-stop (for a month now) in my home server without any problems. Price is pretty good for a 2TB drive too.
Cons: Nothing.
Overall Review: Edit: Update after 8 years later, the hard drive still works perfectly after 36,563 hours of on time (more than 4 years or total on time) and after powered on 2,731 times.
Pros: none if its not relyable
Cons: died in less than a year
Pros: worked while it was alive
Cons: barely used hard drive lasted just under 4 years
Pros: Worked for awhile
Cons: Gave me no warning before it died. Wasn't particularly fast
Overall Review: Used as an intermittent backup with an external docking station. Mostly sat around for 5 years and was not even close to full but when I tried to use it with Lightroom to manipulate photos it went dead. Probably being unreasonable after 6 years but given the minimal use I really didn't expect it. Going back to Western Digital
Pros:
cool and quiet
I first wrote this review 2011, Its now 2017 and this drive is still going!
Cons: firmware update process - poorly addressed and executed. cannot tell if a drive was patched or not.
Overall Review: speed on par with my WD EARS.
Pros:
Best price for the 2TB drive at the time of purchase
Quiet
Reasonably fast for a "green" 5400rpm drive
Cons:
- Advanced format (AFT) was a con for me since I used this drive in my WHS v1 home server which does not know about AFT. However, I ran it with and without alignment and didn't notice any difference from accessing the server over the network (how it was meant)
- When Windows XP/2003 support was over Samsung/Seagate quickly pulled the alignment utility from their web site for some reason; now you can't download it
Overall Review:
Had to update firmware right after purchasing which shows that the manufacturer cared enough to release updates.
I have used the drive in my WHS v1 server 24/7 for almost 5 years and then moved it to a small D-Link DNS320L device for backup purposes.
Very happy with this purchase!

Pros: not a single failure yet to date, 9 years later.
Cons: slow to access during a boot up
Overall Review: 24/7 spin time in a RAID 6 array with minimal reboots through 9 YEARS! Now if all hard drives worked this well, I would contemplate upgrading to higher density!
