Pros: I purchased this drive to expand available space for my home media server. I immediately checked the drives SMART status and zeroed it out no problems were found during either process. The drive has been powered on 24-7 without fail.
Cons: Slow data transfer speed, but this is to be expected from a 5400 RPM drive. When I tried to register the drive the warranty checker said it was out of date
Overall Review: When I tried to register the drive the warranty checker said it was out of date. For me a 2TB hard drive for $70 is worth the risk, especially since I have backup data.
Pros: Makes an awesomely weird zippery noise when you turn it on
Cons: Bought it back in 2010, just died today as I was moving it to my new PC build.
Pros: Large storage capacity, inexpensive storage, reasonable performance. Hold up well so far.
Cons: None
Overall Review: I have had three of these drives for over 4 years and had no problems. The same can not be said of the WD Green drive that was purchased at the same time. These drives have not seen a lot of powered run time, as they have been used for offline storage. However, four years after purchase they still perform perfectly. I just put all three of the drives through a rigorous certification test and all three of them pass without a bad sector in the bunch. I also have six of the F4 series of this drive and haven't had a single problem with any of them either.
Pros:
decent price at the time of purchase. it worked great, it's past warranty now and shows no signs of breaking down nor errors i ran a diskcheck on it, i did not do the longterm check i didnt deem it necessary i have had no issues.
performs fairly fast for a non ssd hdd
Cons: none that i can think of actually, good little drive
Overall Review: i would suggest cooling this harrddrive adequately. i have a 120mm fan blowing over the harddrive and i noticed a 20c degree difference in having a fan blow on it and it was 20c higher when the fan was turned off so definitly recommend active cooling to keep the harddrive life a little longer
Pros: Gets about 100mb/sec read/write, produces little heat, and is quiet.
Cons: None really
Pros: When it ran it ran quietly and was cool to the touch.
Cons:
One day when booting: CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK.
I had it RMA'd with Samsung. Got it back. Plugged it in.
CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK.
I turned SMART on (didn't know it was off) and the drive failed.
They sent me the same drive back without testing it.
Overall Review: I'm not very happy with Samsung support right now. Now I have to pay more money to have it shipped back to them for an RMA again and hope they actually do something.
Pros: Cheap and quiet
Cons: Developed bad sectors on both drives which lead to a general slow down of the drive. Caused raid 5 array to loose data in that sector.
Overall Review: Samsung does not offer an advanced RMA option ... this means that i will have purchase some sort of temporary archive solution to keep my good data until my replacement drives.

Pros: Been on for over 40,000 hours and never had an issue
Cons: Pretty expensive for 2TB 5400 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s
