how does it attach to the tv?

it's doesn't attach per say, but rather sits on the top edge of the TV. that black back "handle" is very flexible but heavy so you can turn it to balance it, and in the front, right under the lens, you can see a little tip that sort hands to the front side of the TV. A little weird but effective, i don't have a problem with it falling off the TV at all.

Question 2

Is there an external indicator, e.g. a small light, when the camera is active?  I need assurance when that the camera is "on" only when i want it "on"!!  Thanks

Camera light is always on. I think it is so because of the motion detection feature of the smart tv.

How does it work with a TV?

1) You must have a compatible TV. There's probably a Samsung page you can google for that information.

2) There's a USB port on the back of the TV that Samsung's literature says is reserved for the camera. Will it work connected to a different USB port? I don't know.

3) The camera not only displays video of the person you're talking to, it also a) enables Samsung's motion control, i.e., being able to control the TV volume control (including mute) and the channel selector using only your hand; and b) voice recognition of the person speaking on your end, i.e., the camera has a directional microphone that automatically pans to and focuses on whoever happens to be speaking, if there are more than one, say on a couch.

Is this the same product as Samsung model # VG-STC3000/ZA, which their website lists as compatible with their TV model # UN40F6300AF?

I'm not sure what the ZA stands for but i have the same model, only the 46 inch (un46f6300af). And the camera works perfectly. Hope it helps.

Can you get a camera like this with greater picture resolution quality, if so what would the model number be?

A caution: "Skype is automatically adjusting the video capture resolution to the maximum possible with the available Internet connection and CPU capabilities on both sides of the connection. There is not much you can do in order to change this behaviour."

So, even if you did manage to get a different make (higher resolution) camera to work on your Samsung TV, there's no guarantee you will get the maximum resolution it supports.
