Seagate BarraCuda 7200.10 ST3160815AS 160GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: This hard drive is acceptable for those who have office/gamming omputers, well capable of holding massive ammounts of movies. Its also very quiet and fast enough to satisfy the average gamer who dont want to break a budget.

Cons: None so far and am not expecting anything from segates amazing reliability record.

Overall Review: Would recomend to friends and family for the best price/performance/capacity

Pros: I got this for my system drive, it has Windows Vista on it, Office, and a few other basic programs but thats it. I intend to keep the drive clean and used minimally because if you do that your system boots and keeps itself good and fast for much much longer than if you use it for everything. Seagate has been the ONLY HDD manufacturer to keep up with what I do to my HDD's, and I do up to 100 Gigabytes a day of data throughput on each of my HDD's (except this one obviously). They are the only ones that stay strong and reliable, trust Seagate for all your HDD needs because they are built to last and their warranties back that up.

Cons: Its not hot enough to cook eggs on? Thats really not a con, I just apparently have to type something here. Oh, I guess no legacy power connector could be considered somewhat of a con but thats more of a warning to anyone who might be considering using that for power if they don't have enough SATA plugs from their power supply... (Seriously I've only seen about 3 PSU's on newegg that have 4 SATA plugs that are under $100, gotta shell out for em I guess)

Overall Review: If I hear one more person complain about being scammed of disk space I will find you and slap you. Newegg really needs to put up a test to prove High Understanding of tech products because you people have no clue. You want all 500GB? Fine, go to Linux where it will tell you that. You have not been scammed of a SINGLE BIT. It is how the OS you use determines drive geometries. Windows uses the old 8-bit system where if you have 500,000,000,000 bytes it will be determined through 1024 bytes per kilobyte, and 1024 kilobytes per megabyte, and 1024 megabytes per gigabyte. Grab a calculator and follow with me: 160,000,000,000 Bytes divided by 1024 is 156250000 Kilobytes, divided by 1024 is 152587 Megabytes, divided by 1024 is 149 Gigabytes. (I took decimals out, but it ends up the same) Your programs and files work on the same manner when added this way, so technically the only difference at the end of the day is what number is presented to you. Is it annoying? Sure, but thats Windows.

Pros: I use these drives on all new systems I build for my customers, always good drives.

Cons: For the very first time out of the hundreds of parts I ordered newegg shipped the hard drives to me wrapped in brown paper instead of bubble wrap and it wasnt even taped, so when I opened the box both hard drives and the dvd burner had slid out of the paper and where on the bottom of the box, now of course they dont work and have to RMA.

Overall Review: This is not the way newegg does things, and I dont blame new egg at all, I blame some lazy employee, hopefully this wont happen again with the next batch of parts I order.

Pros: great price, and great brand.

Cons: didn't know that it didn't come with the sata data cable, and/or the the sata power cable, thus had to order them seperately!

Pros: I've used all the major brands over the years and I have found this brand giving me the less headache. Yes they all don't have the greatest life expectancy, but Seagate has always outlasted the rest. This drive installed XP PRO and all service packs quickly. Worked well with my Gigabyte board and is pretty quiet.

Cons: Drive arrived DOA. The Whirl Click circle of life when I applied power to it.

Overall Review: Two eggs for the speed and ease of the RMA Process, I would put more but I'm awaiting the replacement drive then I'll append my review.

Pros: Fast, very quiet, inexpensive & adequate storage for what I need. Running two of these in RAID 0 with no problems to report.

Cons: 8mb buffer. I thought it had 16mb, but I was half asleep when I ordered. Oh well, runs excellent anyway.

Overall Review: I've always been partial to Seagate drives, they have always been reliable for me. I was quite surprised to see any negative reviews on this drive, but time will tell how long these last. The very old 250 MEGABYTE Seagate I had ran solid for years.

Pros: i've bought about a dozen of these 160gb seagate drives over about the past 3 years. i haven't had one die yet and none doa. They are a great buy. The cost is low, performance is decent and they seem to quite reliable.

Cons: none

Overall Review: i will by more in the future. they are great drives for work stations and $45 is an awesome price.
