Overall Review: This drive ships with SSC enabled, making it incompatible with Macs. Seagate offers a utility to disable SSC, but it requires a PC that handles SSC.
Comments: As someone with very high storage needs, who has recently become very conscious of the *comfort* associated with computer hardware, I love this drive.
I am sick and tired of hardware that makes a lot of heat and noise. This drive isn't remarkably quiet or cool, but it doesn't offend, and it's huge -- the bigger the drive, the fewer you'll need. With a good case I could have five of these and not complain. It's not as fast as some of the smaller ones, but that doesn't really make any difference for my purposes.

Pros: About 465gb after format, Fast, Quite, 16mb cache, 5 year warrenty
Cons: Runs a little warm 42c
Overall Review: I bought two of these drives and using them as for storage for my movies. I'm streaming them via my WMC to my 360 and I'm very happy with them. They are very fast and quiet. The price is great for these drives right now so don't miss out on these great drives.
Pros: Bought two of them and set it in Dual RAID 0. Works excellent along with Asus A8N-premium board, athlon x2 4400. Have a raptor 74Gb for OS and programs.
Highly recommendable. Low noise, and extremely fast. so far 100% reliable.
Cons: None so far.
Overall Review: A bit pricy, but you get what you are paying for.
Cons: only 7200rpm, extremely hot / warm, cooling fan a must, firmware update was needed
Overall Review: WD Raptors are 10000rpm. Very hot, operating temp. 122-130F. Couldn't hold it with fingers for more than couple seconds. After installing 120mm fan (set to low) in front of 2 mirrored 500gb Barracudas temperatures dropped to 85-95F.
Motherboard ABit AN8 32X BIOS ver 10 , Nvidia NvRaid drivers ver 1.05 ,Raid 1 (Mirror) . Windows XP 32bit and x64 had trouble creating and formatting partition greater than 5GB. Windows gave "Setup was unable to format partition. The disk may be damaged." error during setup. Turned out to be drive firmware update 3.AAD to 3.AAE (Latest). Update is not publicly available. Contact Segate technical support. Hope this helps.
Overall Review: I bought this hard drive a few weeks ago as a back up drive for my desktop computer. The drive is working pretty well, I don't have much problems with it so far except that it is a little bid louder than I expected. This is my first purchase of internal hard drive and first purchase at Newegg. Good product, good price, extremely fast delivery, will definitely buy again.
Pros: Drive is very fast, gets the job done. Lot's of storage.
Cons: wanted to use it for an HTPC setup but couldn't get past the noise. This thing is loud, almost made me wonder if it was broken but it passed every test SeaTools could throw at it.
Overall Review: Ended up returning it for a hopefully quieter drive of the same size from a different brand. FYI mine ran about 46 degrees fairly busy and maxed out at 51 degrees according to seagates diagnostics.
Pros: Fast, NCQ, inexpensive.
Cons: Incompatible with Macs.
