Overall Review:
Bought one in 2012 for my first build and it's lasted me until now. Generally don't leave reviews but this boy has been a trooper so I thought I'd give it the honor.
Nothing has failed on it really, been having some other, non-related issues and I figured I'm getting to around the time where it might start to fail on me. Don't want to just lose all that data you know?
Came back to this page to find out what kind of specs so I can buy something a little bit similar. Thanks seagate lol
Pros: It lasted me nearly 8 years. Right now it's at 7.8 years and is starting to lose data. I've just started trying to recover my data and replace the HDD. It's starting to fail and it's failing hard now.
Cons:
I guess that it didn't last longer. Some others here say that 5 years isn't enough, but what about 7? It didn't show signs of dying up until it started giving me issues copying files and folders. I lost a little data, but not enough to be mad about.
I'd buy it again, honestly.
Pros: Lasted 5 years 1 month
Cons:
Have older Drives that are still running in the same PC that were under less load
Died overnight not under load and without warning! If your reading this checking up on your drives reliability here is your red flag, backup
Overall Review: 5 years of light service is disappointing. First of my newer generation of drives to fail.
Pros: Quiet good transfer speed. Very stable and reliable.
Cons: Not sure
Overall Review: I bought 4 of these over 5 years for use in two computers. I alternate one and leave it unplugged for months at a time. No bad sectors or data corruption yet. Very good purchase.
Pros:
- Has lasted for 5 years
- No signs of slowing or corruption
- Maintained health and data quality while using at a minimum at least 50% capacity for nearly the full 5 years
- Stable for at least 36,000 hours of use (results may vary?)
This thing got me started as I was going into college and, before I had moved over to a VM for quickly using several different operating systems, I had formatted and installed probably a dozen different OS's in the first 2 years of its life. Since then it's been running Windows (7, 8.0, back to 7, 8.1, back to 7 again, 10, then re-installed 10 two more times) as its main OS until about 2 years ago when I moved everything over to an SSD. Since then I've used it primarily for programming, software testing, and small scale remote access data storage. Suffice to say its running pretty much constantly. I can't say that this particular product or company are infallible, but I will definitely keep Seagate in mind when purchasing additional storage.
Cons: None, this baby hasn't failed me yet.
Pros: - Reliable
Cons: - N/A
Overall Review:
Owned a pair of these since 2012, one has my programming related files on it... over 1.5 million of them. The other has photography and videography. Both are doing good, and although SMART things they're going to fail based on hours on (and nothing else) I'm going to throw them in a RAID5 with another old drive and see how long I can keep them going...
Amazingly still working, maybe the longest I've had a HDD last without some form of massive failure.
Pros: was cheap
Cons: lifetime was shorter than I had hoped
Overall Review: My 2TB Samsung drives are still going strong, one is 6 years old, other is 8 years old. Those are F4 ST2000DL004 and F3EG HD203WI

Overall Review: This drive has been running for 2817 days (nearly 8 years)! Time to replace (maybe) but this is really amazing.
