I have yet to install this drive. But if you are over clocking and are looking for appearance from an open Window standpoint, then yes, it gives the computer a more finished look. Plus you get to enjoy the LEDs. Otherwise closed box who cares.

I have a Liteon CA1-8D128-Hp 128 gb SSD in my HP Omen 1JE93AV that I have Windows 10 on and I was wondering if I could upgrade to a Seagate Firecuda 520 series 500GB Performance Internal SSD PCIe Gen4 X4 NVMe? The Firecuda has a M.2 2280-D2 and runs on a PCIe Gen4 ×4, NVMe form factor. By everything I've researched, I believe it will fit, but I wanted to make sure before I spent the money on upgrading my Omen. I'm really heavy into gaming so thought the Firecuda would be great for Windows. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Just don't want to spend the money on upgrades if I can't use them, trying to upgrade my Omen as much as I can.

You could, but you are better off getting the 510, since it is Pcie 3.0, which is the highest your system supports.  Buying a pcie 4.0 drive would be wasteful because your system can’t take advantage of the speed.  I’m assuming you don’t have a AMD 4000 series processor in your laptop (or 3000 or higher series if a desktop with an x570 motherboard).  Those are the only setups that support pcie 4.0 at the moment.

Can this be used as a cache drive in a Synology ds920+ NAS?

No, all the drives listed for the unit your questioning are NVMe 3 x 4 The Seagate drive your choosing is a NVMe 4 x 4 and will not perform to it's full potential nor do I know if it will even work, stick to the NVMe 3 x4 Samsung 970.

Can you use 2 in a raid0?

It depends on your NVMe adapter and RAID software.  I have two in a QNAP NAS in RAID 1 (RAID 0 was also possible) so there is nothing inherent about the M.2 NVMe disk  that prevents RAID.  However, with QNAP you must use their their Dual M.2 PCIe SSD Expansion Card in order to use an M.2 disk for permanent storage.  Third party expansion cards can be installed, but only work for cache storage.  Other vendors could have similar quirks.

Can I put this on the Gen 3 x4 slot?

Yes.  Mine is in an ASRock Taichi MB without Gen4 PCIe.  It is still very very fast!
