Does this drive have an on/off button aka power button? Or must you physically unplug it to power it off?

No power switch. With Windows, it is always best to use the Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media option in the bottom right are of the toolbar (^) before unplugging. Or simply unplug the USB when the PC is off.

Will this drive connect via usb2.0 to transfer from older computer, or does it require power from the USB3.0 connection?

The drive can connect via USB 2.0 to transfer from an older computer. It is backward compatible with USB 2.0 ports.
