Does this come with a copy of windows on it, or will i need to get that separately ?

There is no software on the drive and it is not partitioned for what ever operating system you need.

You will need to purchase windows and it will need to be installed on your particular computer to run correctly.

Three are no connectors included. Also I'm not sure what you connector you are referring to. This is a just a hard drive, nothing else. I do not know of any hard drives that comes with any connectors.

I would imagine that all 'thin' drives will fit into a standard laptop without any complications. Has anyone had a problem??

No, they will not wirk with out complications.

For external cases expecting a 9.5mm drive, the drive will flop around and the conduction of heat outside the drive could be reduced. I decided not to use the thinner drive because it would be slapping around in the case.

The same could apply to a laptop (heat conduction, drive movement), except I have ran into one instance (a Dell laptop?) where the drive should have mated with the laptop's sata connector but did not, and the laptop reported that there was no hard drive. This laptop was one of those ones where the drive screws into a carrier that slides into the side of the laptop and screws down.

In another laptop  install, the drive worked fine, it just found around a bit. That laptop (an HP?) the bottom of the case was removed, the drive dipped into a bay, and was held in place with rubber pads or screws or something. I forget the details, but it would work and i did not need to use a shim or anything to hold it onto place.

I have ran into one laptop that was designed for a 7mm drive that did work with a 9.5mm drive, but 1 of the 4 retaining screws could not be screwed in. The back cover of that machine was able to fit with the odd size drive installed.

Obviously your application may vary. Perhaps your equipment mfg. can tell you, or may have documented which sizes work in their online specifictions.

If you are connecting this drive to a desktop computer then yes, you will need to have power and a sata cable connected.  If you are connecting it to a laptop, then no, the power and will already be available from the previous drive you are replacing.

No bracket included with this drive.  It is a bare drive.

will this work in a HP 15-F233wm?

It should work in this laptop, but from what I read online it looks like installing  the hard drive may  be challenging. The interface on the laptop specs is SATA.

Will this particular model work/fit in my Dell Inspiron 1545? I'm having a difficult time deciding which particular one to go with.  I currently have a Seagate Momentus 5400 5 with 320GB and 5400rpm.

Any information on it's compatibility and if it will be a better choice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes it will work. The "thin" 7.00mm tall drives have a slightly smaller profile than a standard laptop drive, but after you screw it in to the hard drive cage the connectors will line up in the same position as the old drive. You can download a service manual from the Dell web site which will show you how to do this replacement.

Sorry I really can't tell you what it came with... I just installed it in a clients laptop and sent it off... but part of my install procedure is to check and upgrade the firmware if needed...
