What is the maximum read and write speed? What is the average read and write speed?

Sorry about my previous post. I thought the question was for another HDD. Same advise though. Check the manufacturer's website for stuff like that. It's always better to get it from the horse's mouth.

In the heading, this is listed with a 3 year warranty, but when you look in the warranty section, it states this item has a 1 year warranty. It can't be both - which is it??????????

The warranty is through Seagate which has a 3 year warranty for this item.

So if I invoke the Secure Erase feature will it DESTROY they drive (rendering it non-functioning) or will it just be fully erased and I can start re-using it again as if I had just re-formatted the drive?

It will be fully erased and will be usable. The Secure Erase feature takes some time, but it makes it impossible to recover any of the information that was previously on the drive, even with forensic data recovery tools.
