An important tip from one of our users: don't just check total power output, find out what you need in the way of current on each power rail. If you need 20 A on your +12V rails and the supply only has 15A, it doesn't matter how many watts the supply puts out: don't buy it. Make certain that you have ENOUGH rails, too: sometimes, you need more than just two +12V rails for your setup.

Replacing an existing power supply is easier: just get a replacement that meets or exceeds the specifications of the old one. (You can usually find those printed on the side of the supply.)

That said, here's a power supply that is compatible with most ATX format motherboards, puts out 1000 watts of power (see specifications for exact distribution). Could this be your next power supply?

Really big. 7/14/2008 2:37:42 PM

Pros: Highly recommended and very powerful.

Cons: Much bigger than it needs to be. I spent over an hour trying to get it to fit into my Thermaltake Armor case, which is pretty huge. The motherboard had to come off and I had to remove the top fan on my case to get it in.

Beastly 6/5/2008 3:56:04 PM

Pros: Runs a Q6700 @ 3.8, 2 x 2 GB DDR 1000, 2 x 9800 GTX (OC'd), three ED Raptor without a hitch.

Cons: Huge

Overall Review: Make sure you measure your PSU compartment to ensure that this PSU will fit! It barely fits into a CM690.

Pros: It's got a ton of cables and power to spare; what more do you want from a power supply?

The sleeving helps mitigate the huge number of cables and connectors.

Cons: This thing is a behemoth; it's about 20% bigger than the 1000 watt PSU my friend bought at the same time as me. It forced me to remove a fan from my case to fit it in.

Overall Review: Don't try to put this in anything other than a full tower; this thing is gigantic.

Great PSU, quiet, cool, lots of power 6/2/2008 7:54:54 AM

Pros: Great PSU, no issues with it what so ever. I thought the single 80 MM fan would run hot, but it is quite the opposite. I have it in the bottom of my Tj09 case and it's quite happy. beautifully braided cables, simple black case. Big toggle switch.

Cons: I knew it was big when I bought it. So let's not call that a con. It's not modular, which isn't a problem for me because my case is huge and there is plenty of room for the cables I'm not using neatly wrapped and zip tied. The power cable is unique, don't loose it. Big toggle switch. I don't know if I like it or not, lol.

Overall Review: If you want a shorter 1000 watt PSU, with a bigger fan, and a standard power cord they just came out with the 0p1000e that replaces this unit, as this one has moved to the legacy section of Silverstone's support site.

WOW factor 5/12/2008 9:44:54 PM

Pros: Has PLENTY of cables and plenty of power to go with them. Runs much cooler than my old 450 watt PSU which surprised me. In fact, to the touch it stays at room temperature.

Cons: It's a BEHEMOTH. It seems much more suited to Full Tower cases than the Mid Tower I installed it on originally (although now I'm on a full) so make SURE you have room for this beast. If you do, wire management is a pain because although the mesh keeps the wires bundled, it also increases their stiffness leaving you to simply try and stuff the extra wires wherever you can because bundling them with plastic ties is nigh impossible

Overall Review: It's a great PSU with some of the best cooling I've ever seen. However, note that the power cable seems to be unique so try not to lose it

what a big power supply you have.. 4/28/2008 2:12:11 PM

Pros: enormous amperage, especially on 12v rail. for the specs its a sure bet, a great buy and great quality. has cables for everything you'll have in any single case. Pro's definately outweigh the cons.

Cons: As everyone else has said, its so long it will likely not fit in any case other then a bigish tower and even then there's a chance you'll have to bend somthing to get it in there, the multitude of thick long imovable cables out the back only worsens this. but as long as it fits and you have enough room for the other cables to go somewhere, I'd still recomend buying this over anything else for a 850-1000W PSU. while the width and height is standard, its nearly 10 full inches long including the cables (squished against the back and snaking around the side).

Overall Review: since the fan will be running at ~100% and its a loud little bugger, i took the top off the supply and stuck a 120mm fan in the space above it blowing down on it, luckily the supply fan connection is a standard 3 pin so i just stuck it in there and its ready to go (im gonna have the included fan sucking that air out). fyi its in my antec p182, the hdd/psu fan that should fit behind aint gonna in a million years and if you have any hdd's in the cage adjacent to the psu, you best start thinking laterally cos there's no way its getting in that bottom compartment at all. over all the right specs for a great price, aslong as you can fit it, i'd reccomend it!

GO FOR IT!! 4/22/2008 8:20:17 AM

Pros: 1000W continuous? Lots of cables, price and a 3 year warranty.

Cons: HUGE!! Fan is a bit loud but bearable when playing games. I have a Stacker 830 and it doesn't sit flat against the back panel so I can't get the screws in so I just have it sitting on the brackets.

Overall Review: When looking at PSU around 1k watts this one seemed to be the most reliable for a couple of reasons. The 1-12v rail which is more powerful than when you combined the 4-12v rail psu's. The fact that is runs at a higher temperature making it more stable. I looked at their other 1k watt PSU the Strider or striker or something like that it seemed to be having a lot of issues probably cause its the same body style of the 750 - 900w psu and perhaps it cant get all that heat out. So bigger is better! :P

I can't make it stop! 4/22/2008 12:43:49 AM

Pros: It can handle a ton of stuff. Has a lot of connectors and looks good to boot. I have 2x 150gb WD Raptors, 2x 500gb seagates, 2x Sapphire HD3870's in xfire, 8gig quad channel g. skill set, a 12v waterpump, and a 9850 Phenom. SOLID, The voltage readings don't budge.

Some people may think it's big, but I don't think it's very big. Now heavy? Yes, I think it is.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: The single 80mm fan really kicks out a lot of hot air.
