with this antenna can i used HDM1 cable because my coaxial input is broken?

Description says VHF and UHF, but package says the frequency range is UHF 470-860 MHz. Can people get VHF with this antenna?

Yes it works well in Las Vegas, Nv. I was able to get 64 channels

Can it be hooked up to a surround sound system?

It would probably depend on the system, but using conventional flatscreen/receiver set-ups, I've hooked up the antenna to the TV and have a TV export setting from AV/HDMI to the receiver.

how many mile range for reception does this model have?

I can't give an exact answer for laziness related reasons, but in my room about 20 ft. above ground level I get tv stations in all directions up to around 30-40 miles away, pretty clearly as well. I purchased this a year ago and it is still just as effective as always.
