My Dell Latitude D510, Celeron M 360 will not recognize this PATA SSD - "no bootable disk". Is this a BIOs settup problem?

the problem you describe is a common problem with SSDs, after working for a while it'll randomly give you a no bootable device found error, usually rebooting can get it working again for a while but i recommend you send in the SSD for an RMA
(i've had this happen to several Intel SSDs but not all of them, i've yet to encounter this with Transcend, but i probably just got lucky)

Is this compatable with a HP z7168cl ?

It should work electrically if your current hard disk has the PATA interface (40 pin connector).  Additionally, if yours is a standard thickness like most 2.5" drives it will fit. Works great on mine, (not an hp tho).

What is the reason to spend this kind of money on a SSD compatible with PATA in this day and age?

I have a PowerBook G4 with this. Not sure how much I spent when I bought it, probably waited for a sale. Basically means I dont have to worry about a mechanical drive dying in an already ancient vintage novelty machine, plus even at 128GB it's bigger than the early-2000s HDD it replaced. So, good for restoration projects or when you've got an industrial controller that you can't ditch the mobo for. But not for upgrading a personal daily-use machine.
