On/Off Switch not needed8/19/2007 8:22:02 PM
Pros: Quick, small, and quiet. Automatically turns off when you turn off your PC/Mac/Laptop.
Cons: Gets very warm after extended use (~45 min).
Pros: Looks great. Solid feel and design. Status LED is on the back so it is not invasive.
Cons: Worked for 15 min before no longer being recognized by either of my computers. Tried on WinXP and Vista. Ran WD format tools with error dialog for I/O error.
Pros: I bought this to offload my virtual environment from my laptop and it worked great. No problems so far...I also have a 320gb version that I picked up a long time ago that is full of data and still running strong
Cons: This one could have a power switch but not a big deal
Overall Review: Newegg always comes through with the goods......and fast. Thx NE
Western Digital Elements WDE1U5000N 500GB 7200 RPM USB 2.0 External Hard Drive10/27/2007 3:45:36 PM
Pros: Transfer speed is excellent with USB 2.0, took 20 minutes to put on around 15 GB of music. Excellent size drive for excellent price, and now including: an added on/off switch.
Cons: Does tend to heat up a little bit during long file transfers as mentioned before, but so far it hasn't been much of an issue. Also doesn't stand up vertically well, but that's just being nitpicky.
Overall Review: It is definitely compatible with Apple/Macs, and the addition of the on/off switch makes it one of the better budget drives on the market.
Pros: Quick, small, and quiet. Automatically turns off when you turn off your PC/Mac/Laptop.
Cons: Gets very warm after extended use (~45 min).
