Backwards compatipable with PCIe Gen 3? I Have a Z390 Chipset motherboard now but going to upgrade but wanna get faster Drives to move stuff over when i can.

I used a PCIe to M.2 adapter card because my motherboard's (Asrock x370 Taichi) m.2 slots are incompatible with all PCIe Gen 4 SSD Due to a mismatch in pin definitions. My motherboard can support up to PCIe Gen 3. I was able to use this particular WD 4TB Blue SN5000 NVME which is PCIe Gen 4 rated; and not only is it backwards compatible to PCIe Gen 3, but it also compatible to as low as PCIe Gen 2. Hopes this helps.
