No , but laptop screws I had to buy to screw it down because 1 comes with the motherboard and you have 2 slots for the NMVE you need to buy one more.

Have a gigabyte h270-hd3 motherboard. Do I have the slot necessary for the drive?

Based on what I have seen you don't have the required m.2 slot on your motherboard.  But if you have the available PCIe slot a PCIe x4 adapter will work just fine.  
Truthfully in /most/ use cases their won't be a noticeable difference between an NVMe SSD and a traditional Sata6 SSD

Dear ColoradoBob.

Unfortunately given the age of your motherboard, it does not support the M.2 interface. You could technically use a PCIE to NVME adapter card in the lower PCIE slot if you wanted, but that adds to the overall cost and you always loose a bit of performance in the conversion. Its always best to have a motherboard that supports the M.2 NVME interface directly and most motherboards in the last 2 years do come with support for this interface. Your motherboard does support SATA SSD and in most home use general tasks you will not notice the difference between the 2.

I would contact the motherboard manufacturer. or go to their website and contact support and tell them the problem you are having, maybe they included the wrong size screw with the motherboard.

My reply is NO !! The ASUS 552VW supports 128GB SSD (M.2 2280) SATA3 .. This WD Blue SN550 NVMe M.2 2280 500GB SSD is incompatible. You need to look for a 128 SATA3 M.2 .. the connector keying is different from NVMe. Not sure why Asus spec limits SATA to 128GB .. maybe bios firmware
