Pros: Highest capacity mechanical 2.5" drive I could find with a decent price point and low power draw. Quiet.
Cons: Drive is clearly marked as 15mm tall; I knew this, but you need to know this if you plan on installing inside of any chassis or tray.
Overall Review: Great for small spaces and large capacity, low poser draw, quiet storage. Not going to win any races, but does exactly the job I needed it for: small footprint in M-ITX chassis, low power draw, low noise, plenty of space. Price point seems slightly artificially high (could probably sell for $30 less and move many more). I am guessing this drive marks the end of an era.
Pros: This drive is GREAT! I bought two of them for a RAID1 in an HP ML360 G5. (P400 controller. So I assume it will work in any controller past the P400 series.) They are the same height as an enterprise drive. (If you know how tall a 2.5in SAS drive is, THAT Is how tall they are.) I put them in the HP drive trays, and they work like a dream. Perfect for our archival file server.
Cons: I have never seen a laptop that I think that this drive would fit in. I've seen a LOT of laptops. Odds are this won't fit in yours. You've been warned.
Overall Review: Do your part and make sure a drive this tall will fit your needs before you purchase it and rate it down because you didn't do your part to make sure that it fit before you bought it.
Pros: We bought these and enclosures/controlers/bays for our HP DL series servers.
Perfect, we now have 18 running within two bays.
VMWARE 5.1 has two 12TB data stores with raid 5.
Cons: These are not fast, they are also not going to fit into a notebook. But they fit perfectly in the HP drive enclosures.
Cons: Height, relatively slow, but im using it as a storage drive so its no big deal.
Overall Review: in case you all are wondering, i know i was, this drive fits inside a Clevo P370em in the ODD Bay using a HDD Caddy, barely fits but it goes in.
Biggest drive you can get for a laptop... period!9/6/2012 10:09:12 PM
Pros: 2 freaking terabytes on my laptop!
Cons: It's a little slower than my 7200 rpm 1 terabyte drive it replaced.
Overall Review: This drive is VERY tall. It will not fit in the majority of laptops. I was able to get it to fit in a cd caddy for hard drives on my dv6t. It BARELY fit and I thought I had plenty of room. It looks like it's a good 20-30% taller than my old terabyte drive.
I personally don't really care about a slightly slower speed. I use this drive purely as a data drive and use my main SSD drive for all the stuff I access frequently. This drive is just for my big data that I only use once in a while, stuff like photos, videos, downloads, etc.
Cons: The Computer needed a 9.5 mm drive and it wasn't until after I transferred all the data (cloned the drive) that I saw that the drive was much bigger than the one that would fit. This drive is really thick, 15 mm. Caveat Emptor.
Pros: 2GB
Can fit all my Steam library on one drive.
Cons: I wish they would start designing the gaming laptops to accommodate 15 mm in their bays
Overall Review: I managed to get this in my Alienware m18xr1 in the cdrom bay with one of those converter things. Had to mod it a bit, plus I used slices of electrical tape to make spacing for the pressure holes.
Cons: Never intended for laptops. This is western digital saying this, not me. Newegg, please remove the notebook reference from description.
Recommended use.

*Cannot be used in laptop or notebook computers. Designed for PCs and custom external enclosures. Consult system specifications for maximum allowable drive height before attempting to install.
Overall Review: I have one of these I bought elsewhere when they first came out as newegg didn't have stock yet.
I have it in my home server and it works wonderfully.
I wanted a second one but too short on funds this month. Hopefully next month most likely here at the egg. Will get the extended warranty for sure as this is new and unproven. Do yourself a favor and pay for the egg's extended warranty. They are way better than manufacturer warranty by far.
Just wish newegg would offer a 2-year or more extended warranty.
