Pros: Fits in one of the drive bays in an Asus G51J notebook (check before buying!). Awesome capacity.
Cons: I suppose it's a little slower to transfer files but if you just need capacity for media files/backup, it's not really a con.
Overall Review: New product - seems to be getting cheaper by the week. Wait a bit if you want to save a few bucks.
Pros: 1TB, of course
Cons: - Drive is large, may not fit in your laptop - Seems to be high failure rate, looking at reviews - Mine was DOA
Overall Review: Mine was DOA upon receipt. No problem, these things happen. WD RMA process was pretty painless, they shipped new drive before I had to send old. However, I had to pay return shipping. I could understand if the drive was 2.5 years old, but I just received it. Drive doesn't fit in HP DV9700, but that's my fault for not confirming first.
Pros: Space, ~46MBps transfer speed over 1Gbps network
Cons: 5200-rpm noticeably slower than 5400-rpm
Overall Review: If your used to a 7200-rpm HHD or a SSD, you will definitely be disappointed at the speed. For me, it was toss between sacraficing speed or having more space. Obviously, I chose the latter. It fits tightly in a Fujitsu T4400 tablet pc. My system now hangs more often than with OEM Fujitsu 5400-rpm HDD but I have the space. I enjoy the size but the lag this drive causes on my system is becoming annoying. Each day I more and more am starting to regret this purchase. It might make more sense to place this drive in a USB enclosure and move on to a 7200rpm drive or SSD.
Pros: Nice capacity. It's about time that a 1 TB internal drive become available for laptops.
Cons: It is not 7200 RPM.
Overall Review: Warning: As I am sure other people have stated, this is not a standard 2.5 laptop hard drive (it's actually a little thicker than your average laptop hard drives). I have yet to find a Dell laptop that this will work in. Got it to fit into a Lenovo T400 with minor difficulty.
Pros: Large drive, despite that it will fit in a mac book pro 17"- WD's RMA service is also quite snappy.
Cons: Died around 6 months of use- started going really slow then failed WD diagnostics when I ran them. That is not to detract from the fact that WD did stand behind their product (as always) and send me a new drive through their RMA service. (Now on the shelf for a mini-itx computer)
Overall Review: I would suggest you used a black label WD product for any laptop they seem to fail a lot less than the blue label products. They (Black Label) also have integrated accelerometers to park the heads under motion.... something any laptop drive should have.... period. (I dont think this drive was taking park commands form apples S.M.S.- could very well be what killed the drive with the abuse my mac gets)
Pros: These drives have proven very reliable - I ordered 36 and all worked perfectly out of the box and are still working 2 months later. Good value.
Cons: None
