Can this be used internally for a 2012 Macbook pro laptop?

The Macbook Pro laptop uses the same size hard-drive as most other laptops:  2.5 inch internal hard-drive.  The 3.5 inch internal hard drives are for desk-top computer ONLY.

I use both desktop computers (2) and a laptop (1), all running Windows-10.  I had purchased my laptop with a 256GB SSD hard-drive (2.5-inch) because SSD is so much faster than the mechanical hard-drives that there is no comparison.  Almost 10-times the speed.  For my desktop PC's, I had installed SSD hard-drives as well using a 2.5-inch adapter frame.

i have a gateway desk top with 320 internal hard drive with 7200 speed  can i get by with the WD black as a new hard drive with say 500gb and 7200 rpm? i also want the windows 7 to replace my vista with the 7 as the op-system can i still use the data off my external hard drive to work with this?

This particular WD hard drive would be an excellent replacement for the 320GB hard drive that you have.  As for upgrading to Win7, that is a wise decision, as Vista was basic junk.  Your data on your external hard drive is compatible across all Microsoft operating systems.

OEM type drives do not.  A drive sold in a retail kit/box will come with a cable.

i dont now if there were tha suffix comes from. i got them for my R310 Dell server they work fine no issues.. there server grade.

You advertise 1.2 million hours MTBF. We're wondering what the standard deviation is on this data? Looking to get a pallet or two of these four our servers.

A pallet would be a lot of hard drives...probably close to 1000.  Western Digital would have to answer that for you, but they don't publish that info.  The WD black and RE4 are the best out there and generally 99 out of 100 will last the full 5years or longer in a server environment.
