5 out of 5 eggsno problems in 2 year

Pros: i guest iam one of the lucky ones , this MB been rock solid for 2 years now , pair it with a 8350 clock at 4.6 with a CM 212 and a 2nd 2000 rpm fan some artic sliver 5, idies around 30c , tops of in the 50c,
keep in mind that its in a CM HAF 932 with added 200mm fan on the side, also something to keep in mind , i have a 750 powersupply .
the 8+2 VDM supports this 125w cpu very well
the digital power controller provide very good stable system.
even my old 955 was able to clock over 4ghz on this MB

Cons: still no bios update to fix the UEFI known problems
i like the UEFI but got to fix the mouse speed
still have double boot some times
the 970 chip limitts your memory to 2000 mhz and your TH to 2400mhz.
didnt thing i needed it but the NB runs a little warmmer than the VRM , about 1.5 to 2c

Other Thoughts: iam very happy with this budget upgrade, i also got and I5 upgrade for me son a year ago wend intel prices were a Little better,
honestly for the extra i spend on my son rig i got a top of the line SSD,
at the end ended up with a better benchmark system on a budget.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst Experience I've Ever Had

Pros: None

Cons: This is the first Gigabyte product I have bought and let me tell you that it's absolute trash. The first time I returned it to NewEgg because of the USB slots were not working and they send me a new board with no hesitation. After about a month, the motherboard completely stopped working and I issued an RMA to Gigabyte and they made me pay for $25 shipping costs. I did not like this but I did it anyways so I could get back at as soon as possible. It gets to the Gigabyte RMA facility and the tracker says they fixed it but have not shipped it. 2 months later, it still says it has not been shipped!!! This is ridiculous, I need this computer for my job and it's been almost 3 months without a computer and Gigabyte's phone line won't pick up, their E-mail won't respond back to me and I'm out $100 not including the RMA shipping costs. I can't tell you how much of a rip off this is. Never again will I buy from Gigabyte, this is an absolutely ridiculous company. Just disgusting

Other Thoughts: Get an Asus, MSI or ASrock board instead.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat Specs. Loaded with various user interfaces

Pros: Out of the box, easy to install, all features WERE responsive and played well.

Cons: In 2015 I purchased 3 Gigabyte boards, the last, GA-970A-UD3P REV 2.O (11/23/2015), GA-970A-D3P (07/09/2015), GA-970A-DS3P REV 2.0 (06/02/2015) each and every board failed the same way. They simply stopped working no POST, no indication of board failure nothing and that is what I got when I pressed the power button. I have been building and selling custom computer builds since 1999 and during that time I have not seen anything like this.. I HAVE REPAIRED COUNTLESS OTHER COMPUTERS since that time. I have never had ANY motherboard series fail with the same consistancy as these boards have. Caveat Emptor (Buyer beware) do not under any circumstances despite the seductive specs. purchase the Gigabyte GA-970A D3 motherboard series or you WILL rue the day you ever heard the name of Gigabyte. They used to be the Premier Motherboard supplier, but such, is no longer the case. They are going the way of ABIT, IWILL and other suppliers and manufacturers of computer hardware, mock my words. They fail in the catagory of quality assurance. I use to rely on Gigabyte motherboards (HEAVILY) and would argue for hours on their unsullied reputation, never more (quote the Raven.)

Other Thoughts: In rebuttal, I have not tried any other Gigabyte offerings, such as their Intel designed boards, or their 990 series of AMD boards. I am strictly referring to their GA-970A-xxD3xx series. So please, go ahead and by all means keep Gigabyte in businss, until you experence their "Geez, I AM SO SORRY YOU HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM, please lets talk, send us an email why don't cha, at newegg-support@gigabyteusa.com, so we can stroke you and make you feel ever so much better.

1 out of 5 eggs2 boards gone bad

Pros: Worked great when they worked. Two boards both lasting about 90 days each.

Cons: I've used Gigabyte products going all the way back to the AMD K-6 days and never had a problem. However this model board has failed twice with each board lasting just over 3 months. The first board refusing to power on with beep codes pointing to memory problems. The memory was check on a second board, different brand, and found ok, so reinstalled everything to that board.

The first board was RMA'd and Gigabyte sent a replacement. Total RMA time was just over 3 1/2 weeks. Not having a cpu or memory to install on it, I waited a bit before getting a second cpu and memory to setup another system. Now the second board again ran just over 3 months before failing. Again it won't post at power on, so I pulled all the components off the Gigabyte and installed them on a borrowed friends board and there has no problems at all.

Other Thoughts: Don't know just what is going on with this board but I'm not going to waste time and money doing a RMA again. I still recommend the Gigabyre products to friends but just not this board.

1 out of 5 eggsRAID Will Not Work as Specified. RMA proccess asks for credit info.

Pros: Price. Specifications look good. It didn't come DOA.

Cons: I cannot recommend this board if you are going to use the RAID controller. SATA ports 0-3 will not support the RAID levels shown in the specifications. I have been extremely disappointed the technical "support" I received.

Here is an actual response from the team at Gigabyte after a 5 disk array failed.

"Question: BIOS showed only three hard drives in the RAID volume on restart. Previously, the RAID contained five hard drives. How can I prevent this in the future?

11/6/2015 2:28 PM

Answer: In this case you will need to recreate the raid structure and start over, raid 5 can only allow for 1 drive to get dropped. We are unable to determine what happen during the rebuilding process. If raid is a critical feature in your setup and data are important it would be suggested to look into a hardware raid controller card instead of using it on software based."

Other Thoughts: Edit: Please note that in all my communication with Gigabyte, not once was an RMA suggested or issued. The last line of their response is unacceptable. Basically, I am being told that even the board's manufacturer would not recommend their product for data retention. Instead, it's kindly suggested I spend more money.

UPDATE: I bought this board last fall and had issues right away. Now the front USB ports randomly quit working. I see that after this product has dropped two full eggs since I've bought it, the manufacturer seems willing to address some people's issues. The business of holding my credit card number is fine. But I have to ask this: In a company that sells short on quality, and the customer service so is terrible, how can anyone be sure their information is safe?

I sincerely wish I hadn't bought a Gigabyte product. I am very unsatisfied.

1 out of 5 eggsGraveyard! Rereview

Pros: Worked great for a few minutes at a time.

Cons: Randomly reboots!

Other Thoughts: Bought all new components. After 1st build-out I couldn't load W7 without randomly rebooting. I finally got it to load w/older SSD but it would still randomly reboot. Gigabyte tech support had me change out all components one by one with the same results. Finally they decided to "fix" the MB. Spent $12 to RMA. Fairly quick to return it. My guess is they put it in another box and shipped it back because it still was the same. After 7 months of frustration I ordered an ASUS MB thru another source. Back to the original build w/new MB everything worked perfectly. I've been ordering from Newegg forever and I probably can't blame them but I will continue ordering from another source and never Gigabyte. Anyone need a useless boat anchor?
