5 out of 5 eggsGreat little drive

Pros: This thing is fast! My computer turns on in a few seconds, the games I do put on it (WoW mostly) load quickly.

Cons: The top of the casing has started to come apart a bit. Not horribly so though and I move this computer around a lot so it could be because of the abuse I put it through and not Samsung's fault.

Other Thoughts: Overall i'm pleased with this drive. It was my first Samsung drive and I'll definitely be buying another SSD from them, probably the same series, although bigger.

2 out of 5 eggsgreat while it lasted

Pros: great performance boost on boot up
clear install and OS transfer instructions
good included utility to transfer existing OS: Ghost

Cons: A bit difficult to setup & transfer of Win7 x64 (An MS issue, not the drives, as Win7 remembers the detailed drive configuration, and doesn't like the initial copied SSD image)

lasted 18 months then developed bad sectors in key OS files. Windows can't repair and I have lost partial OS functionality.

Only solution is a full OS reinstall on non SSD as I cannot restore.
Not sure if I can trust the SSD anymore.

Other Thoughts: I'm disappointed that it has developed errors in only 18 months on a drive used mostly as OS boot and read-only plus OS cache on my. If this as been my primary business laptop, I would be hosed.

The drive firmware is supposed to track usage and auto correct for these kind of errors. Maybe not.
Transfer of the Win 7 OS requires 2x windows system repairs to work correctly (blame MS). this step needs much clearer documentation.

I had specifically setup this drive to minimize the re-write cycles due to the inherent SSD weaknesses, and still had a problem. makes me sad.

20 seconds from boot to stable was great. But was the cost and total effort really worth it?

Oh well, a least I can recover my data from my regular HDD's.

maybe I got unlucky.
I'm not sure I trust this SSD anymore (or SSD's in general), and question the cost/benefit.

5 out of 5 eggsFast. Period.

Pros: Tweaked it and my OS and the SSD is running Vista (my preferred OS) flawlessly even months later with virtually no speed decreases.

Enough space for what I "need" to have on it.

Cons: Made me never want to use an HDD again.

Only ENOUGH space for what I "need" to have on it.

Other Thoughts: Used for OS selected applications (mostly games) and this thing runs flawlessly. All forms of media are stored exclusively on my 640gb HDD.

Really wish the prices would start going down a bit faster as SSD technology advances, but it's not exactly a complaint. Those types of things take time, and I understand that, but $1+/gb (in most cases) still feels a bit excessive.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Fast and reliable hard drive. I've used it as my OS drive for several months now and Windows loads in about 6-7 secs if there are no updates to finish installing. It actually takes the BIOS longer to post and go through it's screens than it does to load into windows. Also have plenty of room to put my more heavily used games on that drive.

Cons: You run out of room fast, but if you manage things properly, that shouldn't be an issue.

Other Thoughts: If you're like me and you rotate between what games you're playing. I install them all to my D: drive which is a mechanical 1TB drive. When I start playing the game a lot or need faster load times, I copy the game folder to my SSD, then make a symbolic link between the new location and the old location using mklink commands. Make sure you know what you're doing before you start using this command though.

2 out of 5 eggsWarning

Pros: It was my first SSD

Cons: After 3 months SSD went bad. RMA the SSD and got back a refurbished
unit. That not right.Did not buy a refurbished. I do warranty work on pool equipment and we dont replace parts with used parts. So fair warning. Going to fight to get a new one.
