5 out of 5 eggsIntel

This review is from: Intel 530 Series SSDSC2BW120A401 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) – OEM

Pros: Intel
Always my pick because of reliability
too bad it's not 100% 5 eggs
well there are always people don't know what they are doing

Cons: price can be more competitive, but everything comes with price

2 out of 5 eggsBad Intel

This review is from: Intel 530 Series SSDSC2BW120A401 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) – OEM

Pros: Maybe Intel reliability.

Cons: This is 2 eggs for some very basic reasons on Intel SSD's. Intel brags and promotes their Intel SSD toolbox, the only way to secure erase an Intel SSD, NOT attempting to use third party solutions and software -or- Intels mere solution to use Windows (or other) OS diskpart which does not in any way secure erase a Intel SSD.

Intel intentionally does not provide simple USB flash or other removable drive software to create a bootable drive that will run a version of their secure erase. Most all other major manufacturers of SSD's do. Plus, Intel's 'security lock' feature making the consumer remove the usb connecter while the drive is powered on within the OS (whether it is in sleep or hibernation mode or not) is a huge risk and could fry the drive or MB or anything else.

Intel's software and SSD operations for basic maintenance is 15 years outdated.

Most consumers use a single SSD in their laptops or for the their main OS boot drive, making it impossible to use Intel's SSD toolbox for secure erase before any OS installation.

3 out of 5 eggsNot 120gb?

This review is from: Intel 530 Series SSDSC2BW120A401 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) – OEM

Pros: Somewhat fast for this 5 series. Reliable so far.

Cons: Ran all diagnostics and checks from Intel, in dos, and in Windows BEFORE installing OS Win 7 64. Every possible check shows only 111.8 gb. HD and SSDs always show less capacity than advertised and in specs, but a full 9 gb less is unacceptable. Where did the 9gb go or what is it used for? Usually any HD or SSD will show less capacity in mb, not a full 9 gb. This is not a MS Windows installing issue.

Other Thoughts: Had to give it 3 eggs for misinformation or not stating where the lost 9 gb is from Intel. Not really that much faster running thru 6gbs motherboard SATA vs 3gbs SATA port.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Update!

This review is from: Intel 530 Series SSDSC2BW120A401 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) – OEM

Pros: Very fast, Small, Low Energy Consumption, Shinny Case Sticker Included

Cons: OEM drive package does not include a 2.5 to 3.5 inch drive bay adapter. Not really a con as long as you're aware of it. You can find adapters cheap or just buy the retail package with the adapter included.

Other Thoughts: A great update to an older system. Boot times are amazing. Should work on any PC with a SATA connection.

5 out of 5 eggsI've installed more than 50 of these..

This review is from: Intel 530 Series SSDSC2BW120A401 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) – OEM

Pros: I've built nearly a hundred computers with SSD hard drives, and Intel SSD drives are the only brand that has not had a single failure to date, with well over 50 systems in service (maybe about 75?).
I tried about a dozen Corsair drives, and had 2 or 3 failures after a few months; Crucial drives had the same failure rate. I've also had a Kingston failure, and an Imation failure.
Intel has been 100% reliable so far for me, and the operating environment of these systems is generally in industrial conditions with corrosive contaminants in production areas.

Cons: Not a single complaint. This is a very well-designed and engineered MLC SSD drive.

Other Thoughts: If you order the Retail box (as opposed to this OEM drive), it comes with screws, a SATA cable, a Molex to SATA power cable, and a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter to mount in place of a desktop drive.
I've never had to update firmware on either the drive or the motherboard (Asus P8H61-I R2.0, among other Intel mobos).

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

This review is from: Intel 530 Series SSDSC2BW120A401 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) – OEM

Pros: This hard drive met all of my expectations. Never had a crash because of the hard drive and I am hard on my computer with several power surges and unexpected shutdowns it runs super smooth even still.

Cons: I did have to buy a separate hub for changing up from a normal hdd to a ssd.
