5 out of 5 eggsGreat-sounding, good value

Pros: Crisp, clear sound without distortion even at high volume or very high/low frequencies

I've not noticed any internal vibrations or resonance at any frequency or volume level

Solid build quality, don't feel like they'd break if dropped or roughly shoved into a bag in a hurry

The cable is coiled and thick, it shouldn't tangle or be damaged easily

Replacement parts are readily available from Sennheiser, for example replacement ear cushions

Very easily serviced if anything goes wrong, replacement procedures described in the very nice manual

Good warranty

Excellent noise isolation; what you're listening to isn't easily heard by anyone else and ambient noise such as fans or distant speaking is almost completely blocked

Cons: Cable isn't isolated very well so, for example, if you run your finger along the cable you can hear it in the headset

The cable is a bit short in part because it's coiled, it's only about 2.5 or maybe 3 feet long unless you're pulling on it, in which case it would probably stretch to 4 or 5 feet; you might need to use an extension cable depending on your setup

The closed design of the headset means you have a very limited soundstage; this isn't a big problem and it's a limitation you must accept if you want the good noise isolation closed headphones provide

The strong noise isolation might be a problem for some people, it becomes very difficult for voices to be heard even when there's no sound playing; if there's any sound playing, you might as well be on another planet

Other Thoughts: I've been searching for a replacement set of headphones since I accidentally wrecked my PC-350 headset about 6 months ago. I've tried 5 other headsets from other brands as well as another Sennheiser model but never found one that was comfortable. All of these were top-rated, so I don't know if other people have low standards or if my standards are just too high, but they all had at least one crippling flaw.

I'm not a true audiophile by any stretch but I do have a lot of experience with sound production and mixing, so I know good sound when I hear it. It seems like if you want to get a microphone on your headphones you automatically enter "bad sound quality" territory, so I eventually decided to just give up and buy a separate microphone and get a pair of high-quality headphones without a mic. I got these headphones on sale from NewEgg and then bought a Blue Yeti microphone from a US site that had it on sale and had them shipped here. For the Blue Yeti, the total cost including shipping and taxes/fees from the US was HALF the best total cost you can buy it for in Canada... ridiculous. I'm not saying Newegg has a bad price, I'm saying that EVERY Canadian distributor for this particular product has a bad price.

The total cost for the microphone and headphones was less than it would've cost to just buy another PC-350 headset, assuming I could even find one to buy. Having tried a separate microphone now, I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this to anyone currently looking for a headset with a mic. Just buy a Blue Yeti and a quality pair of headphones to go with it. The Blue Yeti is a BIG pro-quality microphone but it's so sensitive you can have it sitting two or three feet away from you on your desk and it still picks up your voice better than a headset mic right in front of your mouth. This thing's really, really incredible. The best part is, once it's set up you never need to do a sound test again because you know it will always sound exactly the same. No worries about if the mic is a little too close to your mouth or too far away, or if it's down a little bit too far, or if you're breathing into it, etc. It's just always perfect all the time.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Architectural design and durability of all components is extremely-high quality, if not the best I've seen.
Coil-cord is very convenient for home use.
Easily replaceable parts and you can expand onto your headphones with a boom mic if desired.

Cons: I bought these in October 2012, it's now May 7, 2013. They have, just now, finally finished burning in the day before last. The quality of the highs, mids and lows are nearly unbeatable now, but a half of a year to get to the true potential of the hardware is enough to lose 2 eggs from my rating exclusively. Before they finished burning in, the highs were okay, mids were good and the lows were severely lacking.

Other Thoughts: It's pretty common with owners Sennheiser that they find that they aren't comfortable; this is a given when buying from the brand. If you're looking for comfort, look elsewhere. Personally, I could wear these things all day, for weeks and I do so. Mainly because I've been using headphones most of my life and that I know how to properly place the cups on my ears.

When I bought this pair of headphones I was looking for performance, nothing but, and for my pair it may have taken an unusual amount of time to burn in. But I know now that this hardware is going is last me at least 5 years with fidelity since the construction is superb and the sound now performs that of a headphone 3-4 times the price.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for the price - would recommend

Pros: Build quality is above par
Good clear sound quality - professional grade sound
Fantastic for music production
Good, not great for games and movies
Cable is very long and easy to untangle
Good price for a good product

Cons: Headband is hard and will tug at your hair
These headphones ARE NOT good to wear for more than an hour. They will begin to really hurt even a small head.
People with big heads will be uncomfortable in these for extended sessions.
Rotating cups sometimes bend the wrong way, and it can be really annoying figuring them out.

3 out of 5 eggsGood but not great

Pros: Comfortable and affordable

Cons: Cheap faux leather cushion that peel and flakes over time. For the same price you could buy the Grado SR80i which are FAR superior. I would up taking my Sennheiser's to work and bought the Grado's for home. Wish I had two pair of Grados..

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Headphones

Pros: Super comfortable with over the ear design and light weight built makes it easy to wear for hours. Sound quality is amazing. I use these all the time for working on videos and gaming. For people wondering how these work for games its a must buy, I can hear things so much better with these than my turtle beaches or trittons.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: If your thinking about buying these, stop thinking and do it. You WILL NOT be disappointed.

5 out of 5 eggsThese really are that good!

Pros: These are the best headphone I have ever owned.

Cons: Not a single one

Other Thoughts: Really shows how bad some of my music was recorded. I just might have to get rid of my analog recordings.

Will also have to donate all my other headsets.

5 out of 5 eggsMy favorite headphones

Pros: My old 280's began to short out a few weeks ago, I didn't have much money to spare but I went ahead and bought another pair. They're the best headphones I've ever used and it's hard to use others that don't sound as good once you've gotten used to them.

I use them for extended periods and they are very comfortable.

Cons: The only con I can think of is that the fabric that is wrapped around the top band of the headphones tends to wear out, but after using them for 2.5 years very frequently and travelling with them it's more or less understandable.

Other Thoughts: I used a lot of cheaper headphones in the past, I kind of wish I had saved the money from all them and gotten a pair of 280's sooner.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Headphones to date

Pros: The headphones have great sound quality and have never had a hiccup with any fuzzy noise or loss in audio. They do so well at canceling outside noise that I cannot hear cars going by on the road while listening to them. Best buy I have made in a long time.

Cons: They are somewhat large and a bit tricky to carry around at times and the long cable can be a little bit of a nuisance.
