5 out of 5 eggsDoes just what you want an unmanaged switch to do.

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-SG108 Unmanaged 10/100/1000Mbps 8-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch, Metal Case, Power-Saving

Pros: Cheap, gigabit speed, metal case, wall mounting slots, what's not to love. Even looks like a little baby rack-mount switch(So adorable!).

Cons: Literally, I can't think of anything.

Other Thoughts: Been using 24/7 for 3 months with 6 of 8 ports filled, no issues whatsoever. If you have a gaming station/room far away from your gateway this is a great solution with plenty of room to grow.

5 out of 5 eggsPlug and Play Gigabit switch

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-SG108 Unmanaged 10/100/1000Mbps 8-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch, Metal Case, Power-Saving

Pros: So far, fast and consistent. Added no measurable latency to gaming. Relatively inexpensive for what it is.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: This is a good home or small office switch. I'm using it to share a connection from across the house through some Actiontec powerline networking adapters. No drop in performance or transfers between machines. This is a 'dumb' switch, with no configuration or options, which is just fine for me.

2 out of 5 eggsGood while it lasted

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-SG108 Unmanaged 10/100/1000Mbps 8-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch, Metal Case, Power-Saving

Pros: Worked fine for about a year or so

Cons: I kept having network outages, and kept resetting my routers, etc. thinking it was them. Finally discovered that at least one or two of the ports would stop working right, and I'd need to power cycle the unit

Other Thoughts: Probably better getting a higher-end or more expensive unit. I've had a very good (and expensive) 24-port switch that has been working for over 8 years. I feel like good switches shouldn't cost as much as they do these days, but they do.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat and easy to setup and use

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-SG108 Unmanaged 10/100/1000Mbps 8-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch, Metal Case, Power-Saving

Pros: Small, smaller even than the picture would suggest. 6.25" long by 4" wide by 1" tall. It's smaller than my wireless router.
Really is plug and play
Turns back on quickly after power outage
Never have to power cycle it!! Huge deal IMO
Metal body, gets slightly warm, but never hot
LEDs aren't grab your sunglasses bright
Gigabit connections

Cons: Wired connections can't seem to find wireless connections that are on my wireless router and vice versa see other thoughts

Other Thoughts: I put this switch after my modem and before my wireless router. So the connection is Modem -> switch -> router.
I did this so all my wired platforms (desktop, ps4 etc) go directly through the switch since I usually get slowdowns with my wireless router and have to cycle its power now and again. Wireless router is connected to the switch and it only handles wireless communications. My laptop connecting to the wireless (win 10) cannot see my desktop (also win 10) that is connected to the switch directly. Same applies for my desktop, it cannot see my laptop. I'm not a networking guru so this might be how it's supposed to be or the connections might need to be bridged to work. Although I'm not sure how to do that since switch and router are both plug n play and don't have software. It really isn't a big deal to me though, just something to consider if you are thinking of doing a similar set up.
