2 out of 5 eggsIs this the best?

Pros: It works most of the time

Cons: At least once a day I have to disconnect the IR dongle from the USB port and plug it back in. I have spent considerable time looking into this issue without success. I also had to tweak the registry to map the green button to the windows key as mentioned by other reviewers. I'm no IT expert, but for something that is "Windows 8 compatible" I expected things to work better.

5 out of 5 eggsSlim and Responsive +++

Pros: Inexpensive, and very responsive. The remote that came with my MCE Windows PC does not respond quickly in Media Center. This Rosewill unit is fast and compact. Bought a 2nd one to use with an Xbox 360 (you have to enable MCE remotes in Xbox settings)

Cons: Sometimes the small buttons feel too close together.

Other Thoughts: Comes with an IR receiver!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well in Windows

Pros: Works right out of the box, all buttons perform their listed function.

Cons: The included USB extension for the IR receiver is way too short. Include a 6-footer in your cart when you buy it and you will be golden.

Other Thoughts: You can customize the buttons in Windows 7 (at least) by editing the registry key

It maps the remote key numbers to PS/2 commands. They come in groups of 7, for example:

maps the Guide button to ctrl+alt+tab so you can open the window browser. The first value is the remote key number, and the last three are the PS/2 key combination.

For reference (this really should be in the documentation) the remote keys are:

15 rwd

17 rec
18 pause

I have no clue what the Radio button key is. Remember to save a copy of the old reg key before you tinker!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat media center remote

Pros: One of the better WMC remotes I have found. I have an older version of this remote and it has been perfect. Ordered a 2nd one for a new HTPC I built for the bedroom.

Cons: Has rosewill logo on the front of it, which my old one did not... Not a huge deal, just that picture doesn't show it

5 out of 5 eggsSmall but works well

Pros: Everything works, decent range, positive responses, bought on sale for a good price. Does everything I've tried in BeyondTV, as well as Media Center.

Cons: Every remote control takes a little getting used to, but still I suppose it would be handier for me if it was a little bit bigger.

3 out of 5 eggsit's alright

Pros: works like it should.

Cons: buttons are small. arrow buttons are small and close together, no spacing between them. makes it a chore to press the button and not hit another button.

Other Thoughts: i have an older model rrc-127 that is basically this remote with a few differences. 1) spacing between the arrow keys 2) slightly wider, but not much 3) it lacks the red, green, yellow, blue buttons. (i wish it had those) 4) circular play/pause/etc button layout (which i prefer)

i still prefer my old rrc-127 over this newer model. it's slightly bigger but still not huge. it's easier to do the most common tasks on media center with it, which is use the arrow keys, click enter, and use the play/pause buttons.

5 out of 5 eggsAweomse controller for Windows Media and XBMC

Pros: Quality build with plastic
Buttons are solid
Design is simple but works
Small foot print controller which fits in one hand and one hand operation
Plug and need for 3rd party drivers
All buttons are mapped very well for use
I love the Windows button placement
Mini dongle but works very well and far too - I'm about 20 feet away and the USB dongle is tucked inside a glass case about 4 feet from the ground. I still receives the signals solid!
It even comes with two AAA batteries to get you started

Cons: I know it's just a cheap remote for Windows Media and/or XBMC but I would of loved some customize able buttons and maybe a little touch screen?

Other Thoughts: I got this on sale for just ten bucks! I would not recommend paying anything over twenty bucks on this controller.

With that being is definitely worth its price.'s not an expensive Logitech remote with customizable buttons or touch screen but for Windows Media and XBMC, it gets the job done and very well as a matter of fact.

I'd highly recommend for any XBMC home setup.
